Ex-gangster, Nicky Cruz had a hard time as a teenagers as his parents would abuse him and called him the ‘Son Of Satan’ when in reality he practised what the ‘Son Of God’ asked us on Earth to do. From the age of 15, he moved out of his family home in Puerto Rico and went to live with his married brother in New York, unfortunately after two weeks of living with his brother and his family he decided to leave along with live on the streets, the home of gangs.
After having an encounter with The Mau Maus, New York’s biggest gang he ended up joining them as it was the only decision that kept him safe as well as with shelter. He then became leader of the gang. Later on, he had another encounter with a local preacher named David
...Wilkerson who eventually, after three weeks, got his message through to Cruz and other gang members. The next day they all decided on going to the police station, confronting them and giving all their weapons away.
As Cruz realised where we went wrong, he started to go round with preacher, David Wilkerson, to help other troubled children who needed shelter or to get onto the right path. Afterward, he did his own preaching and went round helping children to become better; he also has an organisation named ‘NCO’ which stands for the Nicky Cruz Organisation. Many people would say his work and life fits resembles the life of Jesus… This is shown by how he goes round the world helping other just like the Jesus did.
After Jesu
Christ entered Nicky’s life he has not done anything ad at all as he did before when being in a gang, telling us that he is also clean and pure just like Jesus is. In the bible it says that Jesus didn’t like seeing anyone suffering as he cured the ill even on Sundays, Cruz wants to help all the children on the streets so they don’t have to suffer like he had to when he lived on the streets. When asked about David Wilkerson, Cruz would say “I saw Jesus in his eyes” and now children from his organisation who have also chosen the better path also say they see Jesus in Nicky Cruz’s eyes.
