I will look at the areas where improvements are needed and not the areas in which I am already strong. I will speak to more experienced people normally my line manager regarding this and take advice. I also know how long a certain piece of work should take and if it is taking longer then I know there is some improvement needed develop a personal development plan to improve own work performance. Every task and project has to be completed with the most suitable method. The most important thing is the standard of the work not always timescale. All organisations and companies constantly look for people who are willing to learn new things and willing to adapt to new changes and ways of working. For example at the GLA they know they can teach you the technical skills through training or help from colleagues however in interview and application process they look for behavioural competencies. Organisations want people with a challenging quality, so they always strive to do their best. I always try new ways to do my work, so that the end result is good, and sometimes ways to finish of work in a easier rather than complicated way. I take feedback for all my work from colleagues and have weekly meetings with my line manager to discuss to see if It and if they are happy for me to use them.

As I learn my skill set becomes broader and helps to me to further my career in this organisation or a new one. These benefit the current organisation because it increases my efficiency and in turn the efficiency of the team. And I can apply to higher job to further progress.
1.6 Compare possible career progression routes.
I will look to stay at the GLA in the Housing Directorate to broaden my skill set and knowledge here as the training and learning curve here is very good. I think this is the best stepping stone for any job in housing across London because everyone works with GLA and knows they work to high standard and so would be an advantage going for new jobs.
1.7 Describe possible development opportunities.
After completing my Diploma at level 3 in Business and Administration, I hope to stay in housing and hopefully get a housing qualification whilst working so this would help in further career progression. University could also be another route although not at the top of my list because I want the vital work experience.
1.8 What is a learning plan, why is this important?
A learning plan is a way for you to set personal targets and record achievements. It helps me to keep on track towards where I want to be in my life and my work. With the document it is easier to write application forms and CV’s for future employment as well as being able to look back on what you achieved personally.
