This article compares two schools with different beliefs about learning styles and how it affects students and teachers. Graham, Holt-Hale, and Parker emphasize the importance for educators to have confidence in all students' ability and willingness to learn.
Cynthia Tobias (1994) emphasizes that every child perceives the world uniquely and possess their own innate strengths or preferences, which are referred to as learning styles. To optimize their success, it is crucial that teachers comprehend these learning styles. To facilitate this, teachers should utilize various teaching techniques that align effectively with each student's needs and learning environment. Research shows that educators use three primary sensory methods - auditory, visual and kinaesthetic - to varying degrees (Barbe, 1985).
Methodology: This comparative st
...udy will be conducted in two schools. One school has teachers who possess knowledge of all their pupils' learning styles and are aware of the significance of adapting teaching styles to suit this, whilst the other school has no knowledge of learning styles. I plan to visit both schools and observe lessons to determine whether there are differences in teaching styles and if they cater to the learning needs of the students. Qualitative questionnaires will be used to evaluate teacher awareness of learning styles and their methods for accommodating differences in learning. This study will also incorporate quantitative research to demonstrate the impact of possessing knowledge of learning styles. Statistical data will be collected to investigate whether understanding learning styles can contribute significantly to students' results in SATs and GCSEs.
