This genus belongs to Group B Arbo–virus and is part of the Toga virus family. It shares antigens with other members of the same genus, such as the West Nile virus and Dengue. Along with yellow fever, the Flaviviridae family consists of over 70 other viruses. Yellow fever stands out among the different virus groups within the Flavivirus Species.
