The purpose of writing about the supernatural is to interest the reader into depth and mystery, and get the reader involved quickly, these are one of the best wide spread mysteries all over the world.

Are ghosts real?. As readers of the supernatural, we expect to be entertained by a suspenseful tale of dark fantasy and most ghost stories are good and entertaining. Its like exploring the sea, what else is in there, ScubaDivers for instance, But we will never find out everything but reading mysteries and exploring is entertaining becuase it helps us broaden up our minds.Beneath the surface of most societies is a subconscious desire to explore beyond the physical world.

Those who participate in reading ghost stories believe that, in so doing, they may understand better the material world in which we live. This was the case in the Victorian era and is still true today. the point of writing ghost stories is to unsettle the reader and scare you. thats what makes it exciting. for a tale to be truly alarming, there needs to be enough mystery at the end for the reader to be left with unanswered questions.

Ghost stories were written for the purpose of scaring their audience, and they are still the best to retain their power and suprise. In ghost stories you usually find evocate set

tings like these, amid mists and shadows, in ruinous houses, on lonely roads and wild moor lands, like in the signal man down in the deep trench, ”the cutting was extremely deep, and unusually precipitous. it was made through a clammy stone”. also in abandoned churches and over grown gardens.

he language used in ghost stories.I have also known in ghost stories they are good at bringing you in to the story by not telling you the characters name like as in the ”Red Room” the man with the ”withered arm” this brings you into the story becuase you want to know about the character and all you are told is he has a withered arm. they let you see the character slowly. which makes it more exciting but spookier, becuase its like who are they, and what is there role?. lso in ghost stories the description used is good andbuilds up suspense e. g.

in ”The Red Room” words like ”spiritual terrors” why? and what? , also in ”The Red Room” the guest of the story gets told ”Its your own choosing” said the man with the withered arm once more. this clearly builds up suspense becuase why is it his own choosing, he says it in such a way which builds up suspence, and all we no is that it is the man with the withered arm.
