Parks library, located in the northern part of the campus, is a popular daily destination for numerous students.

The library is an ideal place for students to learn due to its extensive collection of equipment and comfortable atmosphere. It also serves as the central information hub and repository of knowledge, essentially functioning as a comprehensive catalog of everything on campus. Construction of the Parks Library was completed in 1925 after starting in 1923. However, considering that the university has been around since 1858, I wonder where all the materials were stored during the nearly 70-year period? They were stored in three different locations: Old Main from 1868 to 1891, Morrill Hall from 1891 to 1914, and Beardshear Hall from 1914 to 1925.

67 to 1969, and in 1980. In 1911, the legislature allocated 225,000 dollars of millage tax money for a new library. However, it took another four years before positive steps were taken on this subject. The whole project didn't start until September 1922. Part of the building was first open for use on January 6th, 1925. And the process of moving the books from Central (Beardshear) continued for another month.

In 1928, the library recognized the need for more stack space. By 1959, plans were underway for the initial expansion of the library and construction contracts were awarded in March of 1960. This first addition focused on providing additional stack and reader space on the west side of the original building, as well as including new stairs, an elevator, and restrooms. the south side of the building, rendering the original east entrance secondary and primarily used for emergencies. The total cost, including equipment expenses, amounted to $1,172,903.51.
