INTRODUCTION

The computer is a crucial technology that people depend on for their daily tasks. It acts as a tool to enhance work processes and boost efficiency by reducing errors and redundant data. Manual processes in office settings can be time-consuming and lead to inconsistent data processing and duplicate output. Fortunately, computer programs provide targeted solutions for these issues.

The library is responsible for managing the borrowing and returning of books, as well as handling student registration. This office work involves a significant amount of information management. To start using the library services, students need to acquire a library card.

To enhance this process, researchers have decided to transition from a manual book locating system to a computerized library system.

PROJECT CONTEXT

At present, the library at School (SCHOOL) of Legazpi utilizes the manual Library System to complete tasks such as recording and tracking books, calculating overdue accounts, cataloguing books, and conducting book inventory. The librarian and other library personnel follow a lengthy process of recording and taking inventory of books by manually writing in a record book and copying titles and necessary information from old and new books. To borrow books, the librarian obtains the borrower’s card and borrowers must complete it in order to borrow the desired book. Similarly, borrowers must adhere to library policies by returning borrowed books on the following day.

At the statistics logbook, the transaction is documented, which includes the borrowed book, date borrowed, and date returned. In case the book is not returned, there

is a requirement to pay the overdue account. The manual system used by the Legazpi SCHOOL's library causes problems with their transactions. This is the main issue that the library faces. It takes a lot of time and effort to record, track, compute fines, manage inventory, locate books, and protect records, which can easily be lost.

The slow service of the librarian is a result of the inaccuracy and insufficiency of the manual system. To enhance the library's manual process, it is necessary to computerize it. Each book's information, including accession number, author, category, etc., will be stored in a database. This conversion will enable the librarian, library in charge, and borrowers to easily determine the availability of books and their respective statuses (borrowed or available).

Borrower Registration is a module that enables borrowers to directly register at the library. It records data such as the borrower's number, name, address, course, year level, and email address. This information is then used for printing library cards and for borrowing materials. The Printing of Library Card module allows the librarian to print library cards and generates a unique borrower's number.

The proposed system aims to keep a record of available books that can be borrowed by researchers. It automatically records the borrower's information such as name and number, as well as the book information including accession number and title.

The system enables swift searching of books using various criteria such as title, author, and subject. Its purpose is to expedite the search for a specific book. Additionally, it includes a module for backing up and restoring the database to prevent data loss. The system can also generate reports on book inventory,

The course management and offenses system does not currently include inventory management of library materials and equipment (such as chairs, tables, and cabinets), book reservation, indexing of journals, periodicals, newspapers, magazines, and other library materials. It also lacks monitoring of damaged books and reporting of purchases and expenses. Additionally, the system does not support the collection of fines.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study is significant because it will alleviate the workload for librarians by providing a more efficient method for storing library records. It will enhance borrowing and returning operations while speeding up the process of printing library cards. Furthermore, this system will enable librarians to respond promptly to inquiries from researchers regarding book availability and accurate calculation of fines.

The introduction of computerized library transactions will make research at the library more convenient and efficient. Researchers can now easily check the availability of books they want to borrow. This improved service includes efficient book borrowing and returning, accurate fine calculation, an enhanced book reservation system, and simplified borrower registration. These enhancements will create a more engaging and productive studying and researching environment by providing students with easy access to valuable information.

SCHOOL LEGAZPI LIBRARY – The computerization of the library at School Legazpi demonstrates their ability to adapt to technological advancements and provides students with quality education and service. It also offers convenient access to valuable information, encouraging more students to continue their education. transactions, specifically Transaction Processing System (TPS) in a SCHOOL Legazpi.

This study aims to give the proponents a comprehensive understanding of the various tools and techniques required for computer system development. Additionally, it will equip them with skills in system development, project management, as well as design and analysis skills as the study progresses and the system is developed. In terms of future researchers, they can utilize the proposed system to gain insights into the library system and generate effective ideas that will contribute to their own studies. This study will provide them with essential information, including the different transactions involved in the library system.

CHAPTER II REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES AND STUDIES

CHAPTER III RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND DESIGN
