ided to retire from his job, he went to see the women that day, to tell them what he felt in his daily life seeing them. So that day, he walked from the train station through the small town.

of his life that he thought was pure and beautiful is spotted. With this, he realizes he has lost hope and that hi will never see the good in life again. One of the style that is shown in the story is description. “According to Wolfe (1935), (On the outskirts of a little town upon a rise of land that swept back from the railway there was a tidy little cottage of white boards, trimmed vividly with green blinds) (Paragraph 1 , line 1-2)” where start to describe the little town.

He also describe how he made a relationship with two women, and how use to see them everyday. Most of the first half of the story is about positive description of the town. The years past and he became old with gray hair and even his own children had grown up, and married. An other style that could be found in this story, is emotional. From the beginning the reader specs that the story will be about positive things, but no. After he grows old during and sees a lot of tragedy during his service or the railroad, as we can see an example: “according to Wolf (1935), (He had known all the grief, the joy, the peril and the labor such a man could know; he had grown seamed and weathered in his loyal service, and now, schooled by the qualities of faith and courage and humbleness that attended his labor, he had grown old, and had the grandeur and the wisdom these men have)(paragraph 4, line 8-12)”. And almost a the end of the story, when he decided to retire from

work, it start to be worst. He when to visit the tow women, to say bye to them as they have been in a relationship with him.

But when he was on his way hi felt wired because he start to see the little town from another way and it was nothing like he was expect to see, but it does not finish there. When he got to the women house the mother was no respectable, and the house from inside looked so ugly, nothing good to see about. So he leaved the house and started to thing about that he wont be able to see something positive in life again. Wolfe, Thomas. (1935). The far and the near.
