This database has been created for The Connaught School, located in Aldershot, Hampshire. Its purpose is to serve all staff members by containing GCSE scores from the 2007 exams along with a compilation of subject and personal information. The school was formerly called Heron Wood and has been in operation for over thirty years.
The school has an enrollment of around 2,500 students, including 300 in year eleven. Mr. Hanna has been the head teacher for 12 years and the deputy head is Mr.
Flower has been the school's deputy for ten years, overseeing a staff of over 50 teachers and assistants. The learning support team also assists students with lower proficiency levels. Enrollment is open to all races and religions, and the dress code requires black blazers, trousers, white shirts, green and black ties, and black shoes. Additionally, the school features two new sport
...s halls and a spacious gymnasium in its recreational center.
The leisure centre has a variety of clubs and activities available, including football, basketball, cricket, boxing, judo, karate, table tennis and badminton. Additionally, the school provides day-care for young children as there is no 6th form. Both pupils and staff can use the canteen in the main building. Recently installed computers in the computer centre now manage pupil data that was previously kept on paper in filing cabinets.
Currently, the Connaught School relies on paper files kept in filing cabinets, resulting in a multitude of issues such as an inadequate system and challenges in recording data accurately over time. To address this unprofessional and inaccurate situation, I have developed a database solution. Through the years, the school has experienced numerous difficulties, including the arduous task
of individually searching for pupils and spending significant amounts of time looking for specific files.
Due to the school's high levels of busyness, time cannot be wasted and files may become mixed up, resulting in major setbacks. Generating reports for each student is challenging due to the difficulties involved in accurate calculations. The current filing system involves an excessively large cabinet that takes up a significant amount of space and is not suitable for future expansion, a situation exacerbated by files becoming dusty and tattered, making them unreadable and also not backed up.
The school is struggling to manage the issue of misplaced or lost files, which is a common problem. This has become too expensive to cope with. To address this, The Connaught school has developed a database that can store all the pupils' information, including their ID and GCSE grades, as well as personal details like their address, contact number, and post code.
