What is Stress?
Stress can be defined as the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Stress is a normal part of life and can even be beneficial at times, but too much stress can have negative effects on both our physical and mental health. Physical symptoms of stress include headaches, muscle tension or pain, chest pain, fatigue, change in sex drive, stomach upset or digestive problems. Emotional signs of stress may include anxiety, restlessness irritability, lack of motivation or focus loss , sadness or depression and anger outbursts.Managing stress is important in order to reduce its harmful effects on your body and mind. Some ways that you can manage stress are by getting enough sleep each night; eating healthy meals; exercising regularly; meditating; setting realistic goals for yourself; spending time with family & friends; avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and practicing relaxation techniques such as yoga or deep breathing exercises. It’s also important to make sure that you take breaks throughout the day so that you don’t become overwhelmed by all the tasks ahead of you. In addition to managing your own levels of stress it’s also important to recognize when other people around you are feeling stressed out as well. When we understand how someone else is feeling we can provide them with support which could help them cope better with their current situation Such support could come in many forms whether through listening intently providing advice offering helpful resources giving words of encouragement etc.. Lastly if the amount of stress becomes unmanageable then it’s important to seek professional help from a therapist doctor psychiatrist etc.
