What is Late 19th Century?
The late 19th century was a time of great change and progress in many areas, particularly in the United States. This period saw the industrialization of America, rapid economic growth, and advances in technology and science. It also saw an increase in immigration to the United States from Europe, Latin America, and Asia. The late 19th century is sometimes referred to as the Gilded Age due to its immense economic prosperity and technological advancements. The late 19th century is often remembered for its culture of materialism and consumerism that developed due to increased urbanization, industrialization, and wealth accumulation by certain classes of people. The Industrial Revolution caused a huge shift from agrarian lifestyles to urban ones as manufacturing plants sprung up throughout the country. This led to an increase in the number of jobs available which attracted immigrants from all over looking for better opportunities than those available back home. Moreover, newly minted millionaires began spending their newfound wealth on luxury items such as expensive cars or clothes which further fueled this culture of materialism during this time period. In addition to being a time of great economic growth, the late 19th century was also characterized by significant scientific progressions with new discoveries made every day throughout different fields such as medicine or engineering among others. During this era new drugs were invented that changed how diseases were treated while technological innovations improved communication systems such as telegraphs or telephones making them more widely accessible than ever before thereby transforming society into one that became increasingly interconnected through these networks. Furthermore, electricity was made widely available during this time period allowing businesses or households alike access to power their homes or factories with greater ease than before thereby leading to further increases in productivity levels across industries nationwide. All things considered it’s clear why so many view the late 19th century so fondly for its tremendous strides forward technologically speaking but also for its culture of materialism which provided America with unprecedented levels of economic prosperity at that point which allowed citizens more leisure time than ever before thus creating a much more relaxed lifestyle compared not just to previous generations but even other countries at that point in history (namely Europe).
