What is Late 1800s And Early 1900s?

The late 1800s and early 1900s were a period of immense change and growth in the United States. This was a time of industrialization, urbanization, immigration, technological advances, and social movements. The nation was rapidly modernizing in an effort to become one of the world’s most powerful countries. It was also a period of intense racial tensions with segregation laws, lynchings, and Jim Crow laws being commonplace.Industrialization drastically changed the way Americans lived during this period. New technologies such as electricity enabled factories to produce more goods than ever before at faster speeds than ever before. This led to an increase in manufacturing jobs which allowed for people from rural areas to move into the cities for work opportunities. A new middle class emerged as those who worked these jobs gained more wealth than their ancestors had ever dreamed possible. Urbanization followed industrialization as people flocked to cities for work leading to overcrowded living conditions among other issues that often plagued city dwellers during this era such as poverty and crime rates increasing due to lack of resources and opportunity in these growing metropolises. The late 1800s-early 1900s saw a massive influx of immigrants coming from Europe; primarily Irish and Italian immigrants who came seeking better economic opportunities they could not find in their home countries at the time. This led to competition between them and native born Americans over job opportunities resulting in further racial tensions becoming even more heightened between whites and nonwhites already present within the country including African Americans , Chinese Americans , Mexican Americans , Japanese Americans etc. All these groups faced discrimination as well as violence due to their presence which only increased with each passing decade throughout this era. In response to this racial tension many civil rights activists began organizing against these injustices leading up towards what would eventually be known as the Great Migration when millions of African American’s moved from southern states up north in search for better legal protection against racism. It also gave rise to other social justice movements such as women’s suffrage , labor unions , NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) etc all fighting for equal rights within their respective communities. Overall , while there were certainly some major problems that occurred during this period such as racism or poverty there were also some great strides made particularly by civil rights activists working hard towards making sure everyone had access basic human rights regardless of race or gender.
