What is History of Russia?

Russia has a long and fascinating history. Throughout its long and tumultuous journey, Russia has gone through many changes, from the Mongol Empire to the Soviet Union and beyond.In the early days of Russian history, it was an agricultural society that was ruled by various nomadic tribes. These nomadic tribes were eventually supplanted by Slavic people who brought with them their own language and culture. In the 10th century, a group of princes known as the Kievan Rus’ unified these disparate groups into one nation-state, which was centered around what is now modern-day Kiev. This marked the first major period in Russian history when it had a unified government and political structure.During this time, Russia became heavily influenced by Byzantium (the Eastern Roman Empire) thanks to trade routes that connected them through Kiev. This led to a strong Christian influence on Russian culture as well as the adoption of many Byzantine laws and customs into their own legal system. In 1240, however, Russia suffered a devastating blow when they were invaded by Mongol forces from Central Asia led by Genghis Khan’s grandson Batu Khan. Over the course of several decades they sacked Moscow several times until they finally conquered all of Russia in 1281 under Khan’s successor Uzbeg Khan. This marked one of the darkest chapters in Russian history as it ushered in centuries of foreign rule under various Mongol khans or Tatar princes until Ivan III (The Great) declared independence from them in 1480 after defeating their last ruler Ahmad Khan at Kulikovo Field near Moscow in 1480 CE. After Ivan III’s victory over Ahmad Khan’s forces at Kulikovo Field near Moscow that marked his declaration of independence from foreign rule; he began consolidating power within his newly formed Muscovite state (the Grand Duchy of Muscovy).
