What is Hand?
Hand washing is one of the most important and effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and illnesses. By regularly washing our hands, we can drastically reduce our risk of getting sick from common infectious diseases such as colds, flu, norovirus, and more serious illnesses like meningitis or even COVID-19.There are two main types of hand washing: routine (everyday) handwashing and special (antiseptic) handwashing. Routine handwashing should be done every day with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds. This will help remove dirt, grease, microbes and other contaminants that may have been picked up during daily activities like touching surfaces or shaking hands with others. Special antiseptic handwashing requires using an alcohol-based sanitizer which kills any remaining microorganisms on your skin before they can make you sick. When it comes to proper technique for both routine and special antiseptic handwashing, start by wetting your hands with clean running water (warm or cold) then apply soap or sanitizer all over your hands including in between fingers and under fingernails. Rub your palms together making sure to cover all areas for a minimum of 20 seconds then rinse off thoroughly with clean running water followed by drying off completely with a paper towel or air dryer if available. By following these simple steps each day we can dramatically reduce our exposure to pathogens that lead to many different illnesses throughout our lives including the current pandemic caused by COVID-19. So let’s keep ourselves healthy by taking good care of hygiene habits such as regular Hand Washing.
