What is Analytical Chemistry?
Analytical Chemistry is an important field of study that focuses on the analysis of chemical components in various substances, such as food, drugs, and the environment. This field of chemistry involves a number of techniques used to identify and quantify chemical compounds and their associated properties. Techniques used in analytical chemistry include chromatography and spectroscopy. Chromatography is a technique that separates mixtures based on differences in interactions between molecules while spectroscopy is an analytical technique that uses electromagnetic radiation to identify different elements or compounds within a sample based on their unique fingerprints.Analytical chemists play an integral role in developing new technologies for testing and controlling pollution levels, assessing food safety, designing medical treatments, designing materials for industry, analyzing soil samples for contamination or other environmental risks, and much more. In addition to helping us understand the chemical makeup of our world around us better, analytical chemists also help us make sure that our products are safe for consumption by testing them against known standards or regulations. Without analytical chemists’ expertise we would never be able to trust what we eat or drink. The importance of analytical chemistry cannot be overstated; it has helped create many advances in science todayfrom helping us understand how pharmaceuticals work on our bodies to giving us groundbreaking insights into the composition of stars in distant galaxies. It has been instrumental in advancing many industries such as food production and biomedical research. Analytical chemists have made numerous breakthroughs throughout history leading to countless new discoveries and inventions including medicines that save lives every day.
