What is American Revolutionary War?

The American Revolutionary War was a pivotal moment in U.S. history, and one of the most important wars of all time. It was fought between the British Empire and the newly formed United States of America from 1775 to 1783. The goal of the war was for the American colonies to gain independence from Great Britain, and it ultimately led to the formation of a new nation that would eventually become known as the United States.The Causes of the Revolutionary War were many, but some of them included taxation without representation, British military presence in colonial towns and cities, and various other acts by King George III which angered colonists and sparked their desire for independence. The war began with skirmishes at Lexington and Concord on April 19th 1775 when British troops attempted to capture arms stockpiled by colonial militia men outside Boston Massachusetts. After this event, open hostilities between British forces and colonial militia escalated into full-blown warfare as more colonies joined up with each other in a united effort against their oppressors. The course of the Revolutionary War saw many highs and lows for both sides until ultimately ending in victory for America when an armistice treaty was signed between Britain and America on September 3rd 1783marking America’s official recognition as an independent country free from Great Britain’s rule. During this conflict many great battles were fought including Bunker Hill (1775), Saratoga (1777), Monmouth Courthouse (1778) Yorktown (1781)all decisive wins for Americansand several others; each battle showing how determined Americans were to gain their freedom no matter what it took or how long it took them. The legacy left behind by those who fought during this war is still felt today; with its ideals still inspiring people around world to stand up for what they believe in no matter what odds are stacked against themfor if Americans could do it so can we all.
