What is American Government?
American Government is a system of laws, rules, regulations and procedures that govern the United States. It is composed of three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The Executive branch is led by the President and serves as the head of government in the United States. The Legislative branch consists of Congress which makes federal law through bills passed by both houses; the House of Representatives and Senate. Finally, the Judicial branch interprets laws with an independent Supreme Court at its apex. The U.S Constitution serves as the basis for American Government providing a framework for how it works. In particular it outlines separation of powers between all three branches so no one person can gain too much control over governance in America. Additionally it provides for certain freedoms like freedom of speech and religion to ensure citizens are not oppressed or discriminated against due to their views or beliefs. American Government also places an emphasis on democracy which allows people to vote on representatives who will act in their best interests while taking into account opinions from all backgrounds within society when making policy decisions, ensuring everyone has a voice in how they are governed even if they cannot directly participate in politics themselves due to age restrictions or other factors such as disability status etc… This form of governance ensures that everyone’s rights are respected regardless of their differences in race, gender identity etc.. Ultimately American Government has been put together with great care since 1787 when our founding fathers wrote up what we now call ‘The Constitution’ this document sets out all aspects regarding how America should be governed based upon principles outlined within this text including democracy & separation-of-powers among others.
