Abstract

This paper covers my education philosophy that has a great impact on my social life. I hold a strong belief that that the purpose of education is to impact knowledge and skills to the learners based on morality and ethics. It is important for educators to incorporate moral and ethical principles in teaching to mold holistic beings in the society. My educational philosophy is based on Bible truth that enshrines morality and ethics.

When I was still young, an elementary teacher asked me what the purpose of education is; my answer was to gain knowledge and skills to lead a decent life. However, I later realized that moral and ethical principles are critical to the life of every individual. I believe that it is vital for the students to be trained in ethics and morality and also understand the curriculum. Education should provide an environment that helps the students to correct their mistakes through the guidance of the educators. Regardless of the fact that different philosophers have different views on the purpose of education, the main educational purpose is to impart knowledge and skills to the students based on moral and ethical principles to integrate well in the society.

The world view always shifts in every chapter of my life as I become more spiritual because I tend to perceive things from a biblical perspective. When Jesus was on the earth, he devoted most of His time to preach the gospel after which he was crucified for humanity to be forgiven their sins with a promise of eternal life (Biblical and ancient Greek linguistics, 2012). This statement has a strong influence on my role as a teacher since I believe in forgiveness, a spectacle necessary that is also greatly valued by the student fraternity. The role of a teacher is very crucial in the life of learners, and it is thus important for the teacher to teach spiritual, mental and physical aspects. I believe that this should be implemented in both elementary years as well as in secondary education to prepare students to become independent in the society. As Chandra & Rajendra (2009) reveals, education has a vital purpose of instilling moral and ethical values as well as attitudes and influences the learners to integrate well in the society.

Metaphysics

Metaphysics has a close relationship with idealism and neo-scholasticism in my personal philosophy. Masoodi (2007) asserts that people should obtain knowledge as much as they can by using intellectual reasoning while at the same time relying on faith in the sphere further than the span of human comprehension. Similar to Neo-Scholasticism and idealism, how I perceive reality goes further than reality. It is my belief that people can use human reasoning, faith as well as believes in the existence of the Supreme Being.

Epistemology

I hold an idea that both physical and spiritual believe promote veracity. Through the

Biblical teachings, all the truth has been revealed (Chandra & Rajendra, 2009). Scientific evidence also provides support for Biblical truth. Just like idealists, I believe that truth, integrity, honor, and beauty are more crucial than organization and matter. The faith that I have give rise to my truth from the Biblical teachings.

Axiology

The Bible teaches that the believers should follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ by emulating Him, and hence, I think that human being should act ethically and morally like Christ himself. In the Biblical teachings, Jesus is depicted as a person who does not engage in transgression but embraces love. As an educator, I tend to treat all the students equally without bias thereby creating a serene atmosphere to teach (Kaplan & Owings, 2009). I expect students to reciprocate the same behavior and attitude to their colleagues.

Philosophy of Schools & Learning

My belief about the schools and learning is that students have the potential to succeed and attain good morals. As a skilled instructor, I am obligated to assist the learner in meeting their full potential and gaining the knowledge and skill to revamp their life .The learning and behaviorist theories are well known to impact on my teaching perspectives. The behaviorist theories are centered on the idea that the student behaviors are likely to change in response to the outside stimuli. This could include either intrinsic reward or punishment system (Anna, 2011). On the other hand, Bigge (2012) asserts that the learning theory forms a conceptual framework that avails full account of the manner in which the information is grasped, processed and ultimately retained.

Today, the philosophy of many schools depicted as a form of

remedy to religious perspectives. It is usually profiled with a partnership of the common fundamental values of the schools as well as a wider sense of learning school differential. It simulates real-world circumstances and the real-world contexts that in turn facilitate the real –world learning process. Students usually learn best when they can picture an explicit relationship between what they are learning and their real life specific experiences (Anna, 2011). Notably, right from the early age, human beings are assumed as natural learners. Student readily grasps the content of learning if the teacher incorporates distinctive practices and processes. Broadly speaking, the educator well-articulates and organizes the information, skills, and knowledge in a logical framework.

Educational Practice

I belief that education practice should help the student connect what is taught in the classroom and the exterior world. Further, the implementation of the two theories becomes an essential tool. Additionally, I intend to integrate the learning theories by providing opportunities for the students to relate the content taught in a classroom in different and meaningful ways. This will involve using various active leaning strategies for instance cooperative learning, assignments, interactive lessons and field experiences. The process of organizing the information in a systematic way provides a milestone in enhancing the implementation of the educational learning theory practices (Gaebel, 2015). This is put in place by ensuring the presentation of the facts, understanding the ideas and the context of the conceptual framework. It will further be accomplished by the use of flow charts, maps, comparison table and outlines that will make the entire structure of learning very luring and clear. I believe that the learning process is a social phenomenon

that can be put into practice by employing the acts of sharing the different ideas using the conversation, negotiations, and the debates.

Gaebel (2015) argues that various things can be embraced to underpin the social learning including the use of class discussions, unique learning strategies, and well-organized learning groups. The behaviorist theory is reflected in the likelihood of the shift in the students’ trait as a result of being subjected to the external stimuli. Through my teachings, I believe that punishments are an essential approach to ensure that the students are doing the right thing and focus more on the thing that adds value to their lives. Learning is the conveyance of information from teacher to student and the student's potential to employ information in response to stimuli. This can be further accomplished by repeating the same concept over and over again. The instruction strategies include discussion and the group projects achieved through the active learning.

Teacher-Learner Relationships

Throughout my Christianity life, I believe that the teacher- learner cordial relationships plays are significant in the life of learner as well as the avenue to hike the student performance. It is through this that student can record good results and performance. The healthy relationship between the teacher and learner is accompanied by all parties performing their obligated role (Vitto, 2013). The educators and students have different roles. The learner is anticipated to treat other learners and teachers with respect and fairness. On the other hand, the student should treat his/her colleagues equally without any form discrimination. The student should use greater proportion of the time and energy to education matters while in school to broaden his or her knowledge

capacity. Notably, the learner and teachers responsibilities are nearly the same and affiliated. The good communication between the student and the teacher usually fosters the positive teacher relationships.

I believe that it is hard to get a good teacher when students are taken into account, but each learner has the favorite professor. The Bible is the foundation of my teaching. The scripture explicitly articulates that the student should not consider himself/herself superior to the teacher while at the same time explaining that the student has the potential of becoming a teacher if well trained. Adding on, the scripture further says that the teacher should train up learner in best manner to approach flawless irrespective of the age. The wise student hears and hikes in learning and the student who comprehends what they are taught in classroom usually expands the horizons of their knowledge and guidance.

Diversity

From the Biblical teachings, God created every person with uniqueness and hence an important aspect of recognizing and appreciating diversity. The teacher should take into account cultural background and psychological factors to embrace diversity in the classroom. From existentialism point of view, the teacher is required to encourage the students to acknowledge and appreciate the uniqueness in the class. The Bible says that “My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory” (Biblical and Ancient Greek Linguistics, 2012). Hence, I believe that people should not discriminate others based on uniqueness especially those who hold faith in Jesus Christ.

Conclusion

The purpose of education is to pass on knowledge and skills to the students based on morality and ethics. As a Christian, I believe in

Biblical truth which is the heart of moral and ethical principles. Educators should also follow what the Bible says while teaching. Since the classroom is diverse, teachers should embrace diversity and treat all the students equally as enshrined in the Biblical teachings.
