My future goal is to become one of the best teachers who will help students grow and attain their full potential. I want to take them to different levels where they will be able to experience the reality of life and make the right choice in life. To achieve this goal, I should ensure that my class has the right foundation, which is a key determinant how they perform as they advance. Group work is something I value as it is a successful way of making students interact and learn from each other. During group work students also gain the courage to express themselves as well as give them a broader way of thinking. desire to have a classroom where the students have the freedom of expression and creativity. That is beneficial to students as it helps them recognize their strengths and weaknesses. As much as I will teach my students, I would also give them space to grow on their own so that they become independent which is commonly encouraged in the modern perspective. As a future educator, I am doing more research on how to become the best teacher. I will also implement the knowledge that has learned in college and applied the skills to my students.

Basing my views on Bell Hooks ideas, I will be an inspiration to my students and support them even those who have a discouraging behavior like Daddy Gus lived all his marriage life with Baba a woman who is hard to live with

but Daddy Gus. He never argued with her but remained silent when she complained about almost everything. Theirs was a marriage that many people predicted that it will not survive, but they made it because Daddy Gus used silence as a weapon to overcome his wife’s irritating behavior (Hooks, 2009). To be fair, I will treat students of both genders equally and in case some individuals still treat women as minor beings compared to men, I will try to change that mentality with facts. It is also important as a teacher to respect the different cultures from the different students. However, that should not be a reason to make us differ or treat others differently.

Hansen (2008) states that race and ethnic differences should not be a reason to treat my students differently, but they should all receive fair treatment regardless of their differences. I will use that as a platform to learn different cultures and develop the students’ minds on matters of morality. As Bell Hooks says, racial Motivation and encouragement are two strategies I will mostly apply to my students instead of reprimanding them. If a student misbehaves, I will use that chance to motivate him/her and remind them about the objective of being a student. The overall goal will be seeing my students do valiantly and excel in their academic work, which will prepare them for further education. It is good to ensure that every single student achieves the best skills to the best of his/her capability.

An educated person is expected to show a distinction between the one who is not educated (Prasad, 2003). Education is viewed as an activity of self-development, which

makes individuals show more advanced behaviors than illiterate people. An educated person has a positive self-esteem. The self-esteem respects identity and culture as well as being happy with who you are. The connection is supposed to be extended to the elders and the traditional ways. Educated people should not conflict the moral values of society (Hansen, 2008). Apart from the general knowledge, anybody referred to as an educated person must have gone through the process of learning to get knowledge. That experience helps the mental capability to function well and reason differently from an illiterate person. They possess quality pubic speaking skills, which bring the difference between them and those who are not educated. Educated people are honesty and overcome many challenges to achieve their goals.

Another quality of an educated person is that he/she should portray a big mind, show qualities of a leader, and be different from other people (MacAllister, 2013). An educated person does not become contented with one level but yearns to learn more and more since their desire for knowledge is continuous. The actual characters of an educated are influential to the people in a positive way they are not supposed to be problematic like people who do not possess knowledge. They are not proud people because they are educated but use their knowledge to show other the way to follow. An educated is meant to bring peace in a situation where there is a conflict, and they do not exchange words with others, but they understand that silence is power. Like Bell Hooks says, Daddy Gus would not argue with Baba, but he would keep quiet (Hooks, 2009). Educated minds

are confident and are not easily intimidated or challenged by others. They know that they lead a life of purpose and for that they possess the ability to work with a team because they should apply their knowledge to deal with any difficult character.

The role of education in a Democracy can have different meanings to different individuals. According to Bell Hooks education, the role of teaching is to exercise freedom and exalt justice (Hooks, 2009). She supports socialization and not the singularity in the teaching since she considers that as a way of destroying the ethics. Bell is a feminist who believes that the role of education is to break patriarchy and any critiques of gender. She says that knowledge brings freedom since it erases the ordinary thoughts and fills the mind with development thoughts. Education also enlightens the students about their rights as well as abilities to protect them from oppression. Learning institutions should not only be viewed as a place, which impacts knowledge to students, but also a place for socialization. In any learning institutions, students from different cultures, different ideas and from different ethnicity meet come together in one organization with one motive of attaining knowledge. Education helps people to accommodate one another with all their differences.

When students from different places meet and learn to live together, it becomes easier for them to interact with other people outside the institution. Again, that freedom they learn in schools helps them participate actively in other activities. The role of education is to aim at preparing students to become full participants in a democratic way, which serves as a solution to many problems in the

society. For instance, it gives the ability to reason well regarding matters of life and decision making. With the right skills, one will reason well and the live well with the others. Courtney (2006) explicitly explains that education breaks the barriers of different races, gender, and class among others in society. Education should aim at linking students with the community or society and teach the students the moral standards of that society. However, the modern methods of learning have come up with ways, which do not allow students to socialize with one another. Advanced technology has contributed to the change of the mode of education, which limit the interaction between the students. The teachers have also employed new teaching methods whereby, the interaction between them and their students is limited. The students’ freedom is restricted compared to the traditional way of learning. Sen states that education is a way to bring development through acquiring freedom (Sen, 2000).

In my career as a teacher, I will feature both the historical and the modern or current perspectives in education. The traditional ways of learning support socialization and freedom. They also encourage good morals in the students because it links them to the society. Education should help students to become free with one another as well as develop them. An educated person who lacks morals is not respected in society since the two should go hand in hand. Hansen says that education removes the small mind I somebody and fills it with new ideas that will help him/her develop (Hansen, 2008). As a teacher, I will use the traditional perspective to bring to light how one’s mind can limit

them from developing. Interacting with others make us learn our weaknesses and learn how others deal with such problem. I will avoid criticizing since some of my students will support either of the two perspectives and going against one is discouraging them. I will put efforts to make them understand how to take the beneficial points of both ways of education. I support Bell hooks when she says that education should bring freedom. I also agree with her on the point that it should help students to know their capabilities and refuse to be oppressed regardless of their gender, race, or ethnicity (Hooks, 2009).

My personal philosophy wits with the current education will encourage the students on how to work hard and achieve the required skills since we have moved to a developed world where everything is about technology. To secure a good job, one should have enough skills and stay updated with the technology because everything is done the digital way. I support Hooks on the issue of gender equality since we are in a world where we all have the capability to perform well regardless of the gender. I will encourage the female students that gender matters should not make them feel inferior like the traditional teaching perspective which viewed women as weaker beings compared to men. The modern perspective will be a good setting for my class and then top it with the historical points, which emphasize on moral values and socialization.

My philosophical views on the current issues on education fully support its methodology. We are in a digital world where students have to be taught how advanced the technology has become and

without quality education, one will not be able to make it in life. As much as the historical perspective is right and encourages morals standards, it is good to enlighten the students about the competition of life in the outside world (Noddings, 2013). After education, they should possess skills, which will secure them a good job, and be able to adapt to the advanced technology. The modern way of teaching emphasizes more on an independent life than the traditional way, which is helpful in that my students will be able to overcome the challenges that they will encounter after education. It is also a good way to encourage the girl child that she is capable of climbing the academic ladder just like men do because the issue of oppression is given attention in the current education.

The idea of socialization, which is more limited in the modern education compared to the historical method, can be achieved through different activities. The world has become too busy to have time for everything and especially social events, which bring different people together. I plan to create a method of socialization in my class where all students can interact and learn from each other since that helps to broaden their thinking capacity. Education is meant to bring freedom from the way we reason to the way we act. Therefore basing on both historical and modern perspectives, we should aim at helping the students achieve their freedom from the mediocre way of thinking to a much developed one.
