Personally, my approach would involve integrating my known values and rules to form an interconnected set of ethics that align with my own identity. I believe that my journey towards developing ethics has only just begun, as I build an understanding of what ethics truly entail and identify my own values.

Returning to the initial portion of this paper, I previously discussed some of my values. What do these values entail? They consist of prioritizing family and maintaining a lifestyle as previously mentioned. However, my values extend beyond these aspects. They are what distinguish and characterize who I am. An important belief of mine is in serving my country, which is evidenced by my 13 years and ongoing commitment to the military. Undoubtedly, the military has instilled various values within me. Numerous influences have shaped my values.

The paper explores the influence of my parents, as well as the United States Navy and Army, on shaping my values. The military has greatly impacted me and I intend to integrate these principles into my civilian profession. It has educated me on the significance of embracing risks and being adaptable to change. Even though I have grown more accustomed to change over time,

there is still room for improvement in my capacity to take chances and step outside of my comfort zone.

My experience in the military has shaped my appreciation for teamwork and taught me the importance of taking chances and overcoming challenges. I find great satisfaction in collaborating with others as part of a team, rather than working alone. Working alongside others not only enhances my learning but also allows me to effectively contribute my skills as a member of the team.

Attending the University of Phoenix has significantly influenced my values by teaching me essential skills. These include research, teamwork, and academic writing. The experience of conducting research has taught me the significance of consulting multiple sources instead of relying solely on one. Additionally, collaborating with team members has demonstrated that each person contributes distinct strengths and expertise. Lastly, writing papers in formal APA style has provided important knowledge about proper citation and referencing.

In order to improve or alter my values in a positive manner, I utilize them as benchmarks and factors for making decisions. This encompasses examining how my values impact my thoughts and behaviors, as well as contemplating the potential consequences they could have on both my professional and personal life. By utilizing common sense to make informed choices, I strive for achievement. It is essential to recognize that the effect of my values on job performance can be either advantageous or disadvantageous, depending on the actions I take. When confronted with unfamiliar tasks at work, I rely on my values and common sense to navigate through the situation.

When making decisions, it is essential to take into account the guiding values. These values play a

crucial role in shaping our actions and choices. For instance, when confronted with a potentially unlawful scenario at work, we must decide whether to report it or discourage its continuation. Each individual's values will be challenged as they determine their course of action. It is vital to acknowledge that both positive and negative values can affect the workplace. People who consistently show up but lack strong values and judgment may deliver unsatisfactory work.

When managing employees, it is essential to consider the necessary steps that need to be taken. If an employee demonstrates poor performance, it becomes crucial to investigate the reasons behind it. Even individuals with good values can sometimes allow their negative values to impact their decision-making at work. To address these negative values, one possible solution is to gain a deeper understanding of their underlying causes and seek assistance when necessary. In my opinion, issues concerning values and performance will always exist in the workplace, both positively and negatively. Since employees are humans rather than machines, each has their own set of values. Therefore, businesses must comprehend these values and provide ethics and values training for everyone.
