She then went to England in 1877 to further enhance her skills by participating in a rigorous seven-month nurse training program at St.

Linda had the privilege of spending time with Florence Nightingale at Thomas's Hospital in London, which is widely recognized as the birthplace of modern nursing. During their encounter, Nightingale advised Linda to further her studies at King's College Hospital and the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Scotland. After completing her education abroad in 1878, Linda returned to Boston and became a member of the staff at Boston College Hospital where she established a nursing school. However, due to health issues caused by excessive workload, Linda used her experience to establish Japan's inaugural nurse-training program. She embarked on this venture in 1886 and initially relied on an interpreter for communication.

During her stay in Japan for 5 years, Linda Richards made a significant impact on nursing by establishing nurse training programs and schools in Philadelphia, Massachusetts, and Michigan. As the first trained nurse in America, she led the way for American nurses and successfully set up multiple nursing programs. Determined to address challenges directly, Richards established schools at different hospitals where she taught Florence Nightingale's nursing method. Additionally, she became the pioneer of nursing education in Japan by establishing its first nursing program.

In 1900, she became the recipient of the initial diploma given by the country's inaugural nursing school and also acquired the first share of stock in the American Journal of
