Witnessing the various advantages of nutrition support, ranging from dietary modifications to parenteral or enteral nutrition support, has been enlightening. Moreover, having relatives who have directly benefited from nutrition support has further motivated me to pursue a career as a dietician.

My grandfather was diagnosed with diabetes at an early stage in his life, and by the time he reached his mid-70s, the disease had worsened considerably. His appetite decreased to less than 75% of his estimated energy requirement, leading to a severe malnutrition diagnosis due to a 20% loss of subcutaneous fat within a year. He underwent enteral nutrition therapy for several years, which successfully helped him regain the necessary weight.

In addition, my uncle also developed diabetes when he was 35 years old.

During my brother's youth, he underwent a dietetic intervention that assisted him in adhering to a DASH diet abundant in vegetables and fruits. Consequently, this resulted in a reduction of saturated fat within his body. Additionally, due to his type II obesity, he experienced an intricate bariatric surgery where 75% of his stomach fat was surgically extracted. Following the procedure, a dietician offered ongoing dietary assistance as he was limited to consuming liquid sustenance for numerous months and depended on assorted vitamin supplements.

My family member sees a dietician monthly for check-ups, and I am amazed by the improvements in their diet and overall well-being. The benefits of maintaining a healthy diet are evident to them. Without the dietician's guidance, they would not have experienced such a remarkable transformation. This journey has inspired me to become a dietitian myself, with the aim of potentially saving lives and improving the health of my

future patients. My first exposure to dietetics was in Houston.

At Memorial Hospital, I volunteered for two years and collaborated with healthcare professionals including physicians, dieticians, and pharmacists. Primarily, I worked in the cardiologist unit where my responsibilities included attending to patients' food, drink, and overall well-being needs. This opportunity provided me with practical knowledge in dietary practices as I delivered meals to patients. Moreover, I also have previous experience working in food service facilities.

In my previous work as a waitress in different Houston restaurants, I gained valuable experiences in both customer service and food service laws. Afterward, I relocated to Tucson, Arizona to pursue my education in dietetics. As a student, I was fortunate to volunteer at prestigious hospitals like Tucson Medical Center and Banner Medical Center. During my internship with the College of Medicine at Banner Medical Center, I gained crucial clinical experience and improved my understanding of medical terminology. Furthermore, I also worked in a small office where one of my responsibilities included organizing paperwork for physicians.

Being a preceptor for a nutrition metabolism class not only gave me valuable experience but also provided an opportunity to teach students and reinforce my own knowledge. Additionally, I offered tutoring services for organic chemistry I at Houston Community College. Moreover, working as a meal tray delivery attendant helped me become familiar with the hospital environment.

Being fluent in both English and Spanish, I have been able to support many non-English speaking patients in hospitals. My expertise in languages will undoubtedly be advantageous for my role as a dietitian.

In the future, my objective is to enhance my language skills in order to assist a diverse group of people.

Taking part in the dietetic internship at Baylor Medical Center offers an exceptional chance for me to thrive as a dietitian. I am certain that this internship will offer valuable clinical experience and skills. If I am selected for the program, I would be thrilled and profoundly grateful to become a part of the Dallas internship program.

Completing my internship at Baylor Medical Center, one of the top universities in the United States, would be a delightful opportunity. I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration.
