lost all respect for his dad. Not Just because of the affair, but mostly because of the lie. It seemed as if Chris never got over this, so he never wanted to speak with them. He did not speak to his parent's for over two long years. He went into the wild without them knowing.

Because of their unacquainted they were always so worried about Chris and his actions. Chris did not only rebel against a higher power like his parent's, but he also rebelled against the highest power, the government. Chris hated the government. He hated the idea of it, and everything it had to offer. He did not follow laws or any regulations he Just lived his life to the fullest. One way Chris rebelled against the government was by not filling out his IRS forms. Because of Chris' Transcendentalists views, he placed himself in the wild woods of Alaska. Transcendentalists believed that nature is the key to living a happy life.

That to obtain the most happiness one can, one needed to simplify their life and escape society. Chris did exactly so. He believed that society was a corrupt institution. But, how Chris rebelled the most on his Journey was by barely taking the essential necessities needed for survival. Chris brought his kick, a ten pound bag of rice, some books, and a couple other things that could not get him by. Jim Galling offer to take Chris somewhere to buy him more things he needed to survive in the heart of Alaska. But, Chris refused. He wanted to live off of as little as possible.

the land, mostly. No other person would do this, but a rebellious one. Because of Chris' rebellion he died. However, he achieved his main goal. He survived in the wild for longer than he thought, and also escaped from the hardships of society, and got to live his last moments in the hands of nature. Chris was thought to die from eating a poisonous plant. But, Chris was not stupid. He came equipped with a book on all of the plants and which are safe to eat, and which are not. But also, everyone makes mistakes. Chris' mistake Just happened to kill him.
