Title: Glorified Past, Poisoned Present, Uncertain Future. In researchers timeless attempts to unveil the mystery of time, some have came upon a conclusion that time exists in the order of past and present.

The future ceases to exist due to the fact that the future is affected by the present. If we were to ponder deeper into the context of time, what seemed like the future is very well a projection of predictions formed by present time. If future does exist, hence every occurrence of the present time was scripted like a play and events will subject to no alterations. However, from what humanity portrays, it is the humankind who led time to its complex state of contradictions.

Through the course of history, humanity witness reoccurrences of events over and over again, as if time is bounded by a fate which ac

ts like a motor, running and running till fuel runs out. However, was it the doing by the hand of fate, or rather a vague attempt of the humankind, taking cover in the shadows, repeating the over-glorified past. Psychologically humans are bounded to fear. Fear is not simply the absence of courage, rather the absence of knowledge.

Humankind throughout time has shown fear in developing thoughts, bringing new ideologies and philosophies due to the burden of their past. This further strengthens the thought that the future ceases to exist, as we never venture far from the present itself. It is arguable that the humankind manages to break free from the many constraints of technology, yet the greater purpose of human existence varies much from technological advances. In term of sociology and politics, we never ventured far.

We have failed to challenge ideologies and philosophies, in which would generate radical thoughts to mobilize the present towards the future.

Architecture is a sheer example where history repeats itself. From the classical period to the neo-classicists, from Bauhaus battle towards a new age of modernism to the backtrack attempts of confused architects into pursuing postmodernism. What neo-classicism and postmodernism basically aim; mirrors the plague, which poisons the mind of humankind. The plague that was given the name of “fear.

” Modern cities built to commemorate the glorified past of civilizations, majestic public buildings adorned with classical breakthroughs in architecture, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian columns flood cities big and small like a pandemic flu.An attempt previously celebrated by democrats to sow the idea of democracy. Undeniably the Greek made remarkable breakthroughs during its period of influence. However, how much more are we to lament in the past, causing immobility of the present? Yesterday was indeed a glorious day, a pivot in time celebrating evolvement in humanity. However one needs to be brought back to reality, that commemorating the past simply does not contribute towards the present needs.

Human needs within economists’ theory, is unlimited. Hence concluding that the need of progress is crucial as well and therefore unlimited. However, the theory contradicts itself with the introduction of fear within the context. It is of crystal purity that the modern society lacks in enthusiasm to put the past into good rest, and to fight for a better future. History has always been a compulsory subject within the education welfare. The teachings of history were at present for one sole purpose, and the purpose is definitely not for one

to lament on past occurrences.

Rather history lectures the rise and fall of civilizations, its reasons in which triggered its fall, its development that fuels the construction of modern worlds and precedence for reference. However one needs to recognize that the teachings were the crucial elements here, never the idea of reviving the past. Civilizations great and small came to an end through the progress of time. It is inevitable. It seemed as if every civilization came with a lifespan, notable to everything else in time.

Even the burning sun will seize to shine one day within the eyes of our descendants. Rather to revive the past glory, why not conjure a greater civilization for the future to behold. Civilizations ended due to wars, disease, over population and many more to come.Yet we failed miserably in learning what our ancestors have fought so dearly into proving. The presence of war will never find peace within its course but we see its presence from time to time again, tracking back from World War 2 to inter-country battles for independence.

Due to humanity habitual behavior, very often we wish to be remembered, it is where architecture came into the picture. Monuments, sculptures and buildings roam the earth till this very day tracking back to ancient civilizations 3000 years in the making.Existentialism was practiced, a philosophical movement also a theory within architectural movements, questioning the very reason of human existence and purpose in life. Sheer evidence left by our predecessors, undoubtedly concluded that during a period long before our existence, humankind has already been reflecting on purposes of human existence and the power of decision making entrusted in us.

Architecture is a blessing, where it is one of the few human achievements on earth, which would prolong itself for ages to come marking out existence and significance. The pyramids of Giza, the Great Wall of China, the Stonehenge all in favor of marking civilization grandeur. Inevitably, humankind was bounded to its destructive nature of total power, out of fear. Fear of ethnical differences, fear of alien culture, fear of political differences all lead to destruction along its path. Outbreak of wars, battles, destruction along its path destroying the purpose of human existence as war would simply mean the end of life, as blood shed is inevitable within the context of war.

Buildings of splendor surged with propagandas, ideologies and theoretical teachings vanished in the midst of war.But the new custom will take over, new cities reconstructed and history will repeat itself once more due to human conflicts. The irony of human fighting against human crippled the very purpose of existentialism. Within the teachings of existentialism, we will always have a choice. Rulers, dictators, leaders will shadow humanity’s progress of mind with misleading facts, proclaiming that war and confrontation is inevitable.

Wrong! As there will always be a choice. Perhaps the vicious cycle of history is simply to shed awareness among its witnesses.Humankind failed to see the power of choice, something that was fought for, back to the time of Socrates. Socrates was sentenced death by Athenian rulers, simply being accused of poisoning young Athenian minds of his time, due to his act of questioning the liability of divinity. Socrates had dedicated his life into bringing social awareness for future benefits but what remains questionable, is

how much of his teachings were spread within the modern world.

We proclaim of living in a modern world, yet such magnificent teachings failed to be adapted within the many layers of society. The majority still consumes on every controversial debuts thrown at them. Easily misled and more often than not, key elements of exploitations. Tabloids, rumors, speculations, frauds, pornography and many more negative influences to poison the nations’ youth. After years of slumber, it is time to waken the human curiosity. We hold every detailed right into questioning previous teachings, forming understanding, overcoming indifferences hence bringing advancement and to find truth.

We definitely hold every power entrusted in us, by law and statutes, of making our own choices.Every proud Malaysian would definitely remember Malaysia’s glorious past of economic boom, enjoying rewarding returns from the international market. While some struggled to erase the disastrous 1997 economic crisis which flooded Asia. At present, Malaysians might stand wounded, vulnerable to attacks.

Lost battles do not necessarily result a lost war. Rather than to waste time living in the past, Asians, Malaysians all the same should lift heads high, regaining dignity and valor to venture into the competitive world of economy once more.Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir brought infantile Malaysia to make its very first baby step into internationality. What others failed to perceive, Dr. Mahathir dare to challenge.

Even when the country suffers dramatic losses during the 1997 crisis, Dr. Mahathir lead the country into fame. Previously unknown within the western world is now a highlighted name amongst the list of 3rd world countries. Constructing the Sepang racetrack and KLIA airport traumatized Malaysia’s economy further. Thousands,

perhaps millions were against Dr.Mahathir’s decision.

Yet our national pride remained impervious to attacks, as he managed to perceive what others failed to see. A sheer example of human power of will, rather to remain small timers, a radical believe at our time may turn out to be the turning point for eons to come. The ‘white elephant’ of Malaysia, better known as the KLCC, despise its significance of Malaysian pride, the modern society labeled the architectural marvel to be a complete ‘wastage’. Young Malaysians, Aseans as we speak, failed to see the message needed to be conveyed across.A fragment out of Malaysia’s youth deemed to glorify the westerners due to their achievements and sophisticated urbanizations.

But the important issue here is not about gathering others’ glory into trashing our pride. It goes the same towards western countries where citizens deem to think that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. The Petronas Twin Tower is a symbolic icon of Malaysia, saying that it is time for Malaysians to rise towards the global leaders and to state our viewpoint on global issues. However, many failed to witness such splendor and valor in this icon, which directed to many bashings against the government’s decision, accused of causing a leak within the country’s expenditure.

It is arguable that the government does not resolve to the best solution from time to time. But one needs to reckon that the message spread is of righteous and good will, in educating the younger generations that one should stand for what he/she truly believes in. Admitting to defeat would very well be another trigger for history to

repeat itself.Every third world country has seen enough of the impacts of war and capitalism.

The capital city of Malaysia is encumbered with architecture from around the globe. Architecture in Malaysia might seem somewhat “jumbled-up” sourcing from modern contexts to religious piety, portraying an identity uniquely of Malaysia’s, towards the world. The examples gathered were of sheer purpose in demonstrating a crisis, breaking out around the globe, where people deem to speculate on what present politics and sociology have to offer.Yet these people often remain in dilemma of sitting on the fence siding no party, which ended up sourcing from the past into generating further assumptions. The point, in which one needs to focus, is that the amount of intelligence and effort spent to reminiscence the past could be put into better use. It is time for people to stand up for what they truly believe in and making their own stand in life, rather to highlight others’ glory that weren’t ours to begin with.

Over the years, modern civilization managed to develop its very own identity and culture as we speak.Improvements in providing education towards the poor helped educate the people. In response towards this cyber era, the nation’s youth has formed their very own distinctive ‘blog culture’. Where a ‘blog’ appears to be an online journal for writers to express their deepest feelings towards any possible issue out there. From what one might witness within the ‘blogosphere’, certain writers held little reluctance in bashing the government and world issues from the comfort of their chair.

Clearly, it is a sign whereby proving young youths were not dry of opinions as we speak, which

are all good.Once more in showing deliberate bashings will not solve world issues and certainly unjustified for. If one wishes to change the world, he/she should start with an effort worthy of account. Now questions arise, on what effort is deem accountable for one to influence the world. There are many answers into what deems accountable but one thing is for sure.

One could definitely cause no impact at all, to the world through inane ramblings and unjustified bashings. By fighting our way into politics, by contributing our thoughts in open conferences and debates. These are just a few of the method in which one is capable of doing to promote improvements in modern society. Not everyone is of politic material. However one is capable to counter misleading pop cultures among peers and to contribute towards social welfare without much hassle.

Not everything out of the magic box deems to be true. We might enjoy the luxury of easy information access, yet evil lurks in every dark corner as we speak, to exploit on human ignorance. The modern youth are to bear signs of gung-ho in digging the real truth and into uncoiling the misleading fact which the media feed us with. The education systems no longer wish to spoon-feed its respective pupils.

Bridges and railways were not built in a day. It takes time for civilization to realize, that the vicious cycle towards the ever-repeating history is never fate to begin with. And the time deem most suitable to start, should be nothing short of now. Humankind has procrastinated long enough into apprehending the fatality of human morale, and definitely of human moral.

Nobody deems to

be perfect. While the world political system is of human intervention, hence the ideal ruling system never exists to begin with. But this is no excuse to throw our thinking caps out of the study room and venture off into the magic box. If one fails, for a test in an exam, it is basic elementary that one should make adjustments for further improvements. It goes the same to every aspect seen in the society.

Crimes, racialism, corruption, failure in urban planning, all go into showing how much needs to be corrected into perfecting the human society. A scene, whereby a parent complains about his unsatisfied perception towards government ruling, is no longer a rare sight as we speak. How much have the people themselves, been doing into improving the government system? The peaceful chant of unison has become a rare sight. “United we stand, divided we fall. ” A simple terminology taught since nursery one. Crimes would be at minimal state if all parties were to unite within a community.

Corruption would be seized if all were to abolish it. Unpredicted growth rate causes failure in urban planning. Immigrants from neighboring countries and neighboring states were all unaccounted for. Should we put the blame on human dilemmas instead? One does not blame the hostess if food served within a specific party if uninvited guests turned up out of the blues.

Undeniable fact that animals and human alike, source for the best hunting ground whereby the megalopolis, more often than not, deem to be ideal for career building. The outskirts, under-developed, is of great potential as well. If a reasonable amount of citizens agree to build their empire

along the outskirt under government provision, will there even be matters of human traffic to begin with? All these link back to humanity itself, where ego is celebrated while defeat is ignored.Criticism lubricates development but only to the extend of constructive criticism. From time to time, we question on what others could do for us. But before one asks such question of solemnity, one should question oneself in solitude confinement of the mind, “What can we do for others instead? ” Every single time, when the government pulls a tariff hike, the crowd goes wild into protests and even riots as such issues are very delicate as we speak.

Inevitably, the people start casting blames on the government’s questionable act. Yet the demanding people fail to see that all their demands need effort into constructing. We may demand till our throat runs dry, yet we never fail to demand some more. Only a chunk out of the iceberg noticed the current state of affair we misguided ourselves into. Again human dilemma as we speak. Do not question what humanity has to offer, instead ask yourself what you have to offer towards humanity.

Desperate time calls for desperate measures. Humanity no longer lives in the dark ages nor under the governance of feudal lords. Yet we manage to see traces of exploitation repeating itself again, as economy colossuses join forces into suppressing the middle and lower class hierarchy populace.Humanity is reevaluated from time to time, now granting people the freedom of thought and the freedom of choice.

It is now that we call upon all nations of the world to step forward, hand-in-hand to author a new

page in history, which varies from all previous civilizations. Only with one thing in common, whereby humanity is at another peak of advancements in an array covering politics, sociology, economics, philosophies, ideologies and technologies. It has come upon a time for humanity to realize, that one shall never take peace and development for granted.Under a nurtured environment, most of humanity itself has failed to see the significance in competition no more, taking peace and development for granted. A failure in a political system may lead to decades of agonizing pain, while a failure in humanity may lead to a conclusion in human existence.

Yesterday was a glorious day. Today humanity is now a wounded soldier in abundance. But make no mistake that tomorrow will not be another lost battle, as fate was never in the grasp of time. It has always been solemnly waiting, in our hands instead.
