There are some causes that mainly cause child prostitution to occur in this world. Misery and poverty is the main cause of child prostitution (Gerdes, 2007). In some countries like Cambodia, India, Myanmar and other poor countries, all the members of the families needed go out from their house and find job even is a small child to unsure that their families have enough food to eat, clothes to wear and comfortable living environment (Gerdes, 2007).

For those children that went out for work, high possibility that they will be raped by the others workers and then they also might be forced to continuous giving sex services for the workers in order to continue their work (Johnson, 1992). Some of the children are been forced to provide sexual intercourse for the bosses or workers in their workplace (Johnson, 1992). Because of poverty of their families, they cannot reject the offers that given by the men that offering financial benefit for them as a return or having sexual intercourse with them (Johnson, 1992).

In order to satisfy their and their families’ need, children will do whatever things that their parents, elder sister and brother or their guardian’s orders (Gerdes, 2007). For some children, they had been prostitutes since they were

very young, most of them even don’t know how to write and read properly but they already forced be a prostitute. Because they cannot control their life when they were small, so they can just listen and follow whatever things that their elders said (Campagna, 1987).

Another reason that causes child prostitution to occur so frequently is because of poor education. Because of poor education of the parents in the families, they cannot earn more money to pay for their families’ expenses, so they will ask their children go out to find job in order to cover their daily expenses (Gerdes, 2007). Normally, jobs that children commonly found was like be a maid in the rich people’s house, be a labor in industry’s factory, shops, and restaurant.

And all these jobs will highly expose the children to a dangerous situation that high possibilities that they will be raped by the men outside when they are working. And because of their mind that will only think that money is the only important things for them, they will willing to be a prostitute that can earn more money then other job and they think that they already have sexual intercourse with someone before, although is been forced, so they think that they will have nothing difference to have sexual intercourse with other more men (Gerdes, 2007).

Their families will not realize that their children had involved into such job but just know that the only important thing is their children are helping them to cover the families’ daily expenses and that is enough for them. The parents that come from poor education families will

not bother that what job are their children doing but only are they earning money to cover families’ daily expenses (Gerdes, 2007). Even through when they knew what kind of job their children are doing, they will not care about it the main point for them is just the money (Gerdes, 2007).

And also because they are not from high educated, they cannot find jobs that can bring them such many money when their become prostitutes (Campagna, 1987). Even that some parents will force their child to be a prostitute to earn money for them and the parents will no longer need to work because they have a child that can earn money for them (Campagna, 1987). Another reason that causes child prostitution to occur is deception (Gerdes, 2007). Deception means someone doing things that are not what they promise before.

The brothel owners or the pimp, commonly the prostitutes will call them as the master, will go to some poor villagers’ home to find some girls for them, they will lie to the parents that they wanted to buy the female child to do some cleaning or cooking job for them (Farr, 2004). When the parents heard their child will get paid, they will just leave their child to the pimps and would not ask anymore question. But the child that just brought them from their parents will just be brought to the brothel or some others places that own by the pimps and forced to start the sexual intercourse services for the pimp’s customers.

The pimp will force the child to be their sex workers and to earn money for

them and the child will only get very small amount of money that even not enough for themselves to buy things but they still need to send money back for their families (Gerdes, 2007). Many female children are led into such cases because of the deception from the pimp to the parents. These activities are encouraging in many poor countries because many families that are suffering in very poor condition are willing to sell their daughter for financial benefit (Johnson, 1992).

In order to ensure that their families can still survive, many female children are willing to work with those pimps that can pay to their families to buy her (Johnson, 1992). These activities had happened widely in some poorer countries like Cambodia, Thailand and others (Montgomery, 2001). These activities are hard to prevent because the government cannot control the parents to not let their child go for work with somebody that are offering attractive financial reward for them. The effect of that cause by child prostitution is children that involved in child prostitution will have impact in mental and physical development.

For impact in mental development, children will more likely have symptoms like insomnia, scare of strangers, depression, guilt, fear, anxiety, and others symptoms (Campagna, 1987). Commonly almost all the prostitutes that been forced long term will had symptom that they will very scare of men that they don’t know at all. They will have actions that wanted to run away if they found someone want to go near by them very obviously (Hoglund, 2008). They also will feel very guilt and anxiety about their body that had been “used” by many

difference men.

They will feel that their bodies are very dirty and wanted to bath every time after they had sexual intercourse with men. Their emotion will have very high chance to change easily that other people and become very emotional (Campagna, 1987). And for impact in physical development, child prostitutes will always have wounds and bruises that made by their customers when having sexual intercourse. Difference customers have difference interests about the prostitute’s style, in order to make sure that their customers will satisfied with their services and pay, they need to match-up with whatever their customer’s want.

Because of these, their bodies will always have some wounds and bruises (Campagna, 1987). Another effect that causes by the child prostitution is the child prostitutes are easily to involve in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) infection. Normally, when child prostitutes providing sexual intercourse service for their customers, most of their customers will not likely to use the sexual intercourse protection-condom and this will cause the child prostitutes have higher chances to get sex viruses infection from them (Montgomery, 2001).

And some of them even do not know what a condom is use for. Other then that, child prostitutes normally would not go for constantly medical check up to prevent the infection of HIV or AIDS. They also would not go to clinic or hospital to get vaccine for these viruses. These actions had lead all the child prostitutes in this world have very high chances to infect by HIV or AIDS (Campagna, 1987).

Because of the demand from the customers, when the child had proven that

been infected by these viruses, the pimps will go for more girls and especially girls that are still virgin to ensure that they are not infected by these viruses (Johnson, 1992). Besides that, children that involved in prostitution activities will not have chances to have education for them. When the child is being forced to be a prostitute since small, they would not have time and chances to go to school for their basic education (Campagna, 1987).

Some of them even do not know how to spell they name in a correct way. This will lead to a situation that most of the child prostitutes in this world can be called as illiterate people (Farr, 2004). This will make them more and more hard to survive in this world later when they do not want to be a prostitute anymore. Because they do not have even basic education before, ho can they can work normally with some common jobs like secretary, normal officer, and others common jobs that can easily be found by them (Johnson, 1992).

Because of these reasons, they cannot stop being a prostitute so easily and also societies will have bias that they cannot accept that an ex-prostitute work together with them in a same company. As a conclusion, child prostitution occurs is because of the poverty and misery of a families, poor education of a family and also deception from the pimps or the brothel owners. Because of that, many effects had occurs like the child prostitutes had impact in their mental and physically developments, they are also the highest possibilities people that can infect by HIV or AIDS.
