My desire to become a strong business leader is deeply ingrained in my psyche. This decision has been built on my strong interests in the business field, relevant training received and hands-on experiences gained from extra-curricula activities throughout my high school life. It is my belief that a successful business leader will be able to generate a much more effective impact than most individuals would; and such a business leader should possess an analytical mind and react efficiently to situations on the foundations of reliable information rather than sentiments.
Accounting is therefore a logical pick of study for my first degree. At the information Session in early January, I was able to listen and speak to some seniors in the BBA program who had just finished their summer internships in their respective fields. During this session
..., I was able to speak to Abby Flora about her summer internship at AT Kearney. She assured me that all of her accomplishments were a direct result of the education she’s received in the BBA program at your university.
She spoke in detail about how she was able to help the company save 20% of the departmental budget during her internship, and how the course Operational Management helped give her a good insight into manufacturing sectors. I understood that this was the University’s effort to bridge the courses they studied into the “real-world” experiences. I have done a considerable amount of research into a handful of business schools that closely match with my desire and qualifications, but none struck me as the right place for me until I looked into University of Michigan.
In the end, Ross School of Business, University o
Michigan is my most favored destination. From Mr. Alec Byrne, the school’s admissions staff, I learned a great deal about the Accounting program. The extensive curriculum and offerings enable me to tailor a well-balanced three-year course consisting of core subjects and an array of electives to enrich my own needs and interests. From the briefing of Ms.
Susan Fedewa, Admissions Assistant, and further elaboration of an uncle who graduated from the same school, I am particularly impressed by the school’s action-based learning approach. This is the approach I would fully devote myself into and it would no doubt work effectively with me. In speaking to Ms. Emma Sadikovich, GSI of my accounting course, I have acquired more useful information as to how to acquaint myself and establish a healthy foundation for the accounting study I am pursuing.
Despite the fact that I have only been in the campus of University of Michigan for a few weeks, I am enjoying every minute in exploring the facilities that the University has to offer. I believe I will gain a great deal from the Kapnick Workshop Series at the Paton Accounting Center, and that the real-world experiences, like those of Miss Flora, will help me become a strong business leader and team member. My commitment to hard work and my dedication to education will be a benefit to the university, and I will bring my love of business to the Ross School of Business.
