“Idiot Nation” by Michael Moore is an essay that expresses Moore’s thoughts on where America places its importance of education and lack of education in politics in America. Michael Moore uses different forms of sarcasm to get the attention of readers and his point across. The political contribution to deteriorating education, financial funding and the ignorance of Americans is the main subjects of this essay. Mr. Moore makes some excellent points even with it being one side, the essay is easy to read and is humorous and creates a reaction from its readers.
Moore begins his essay with the blunt question “Do you feel like you live in a nation of idiots?” What American can honestly say no? Though Moore’s reasoning have intriguing ideas and concepts they lack def
...ined purpose. It is pointed out in the essay that George W. Bush “Idiot –in-Chief” brags about his ignorance, there are not facts to support these ignorance accusations. Have we said this about some president at some point, yes, but not because of the type of student he was in college. Becoming president does not have to be about your grade point average (GPA) it’s about how hard you work, how well you do and the bottom line is if you win the votes.
Moore does make some compelling statements, “ Or political leaders and the people that vote for them have decided it’s a bigger priority to build another bomb than to educate our children” even parents who vote for them have issues with weapons of mass destruction coming before our children’s education we just are not listened to once we hav
voted.
