Wozniak departed from his desired profession of calculator design in order to establish a fresh business with Jobs. They initially harbored uncertainties regarding the company's profitability. Wozniak's talents in circuit board and printer design were acknowledged by Atari and HP, yet both declined to offer their support. Undeterred by this setback, the two close friends remained resolute in launching their own enterprise, selecting the name Apple as a rival to Atari. Due to insufficient funds, they opted to sell their possessions as a means of financing their entrepreneurial endeavor.

Jobs and Wozniak each had to sell their belongings - Jobs sold his Volkswagen while Wozniak had to part with his beloved scientific HP calculator. Although Wozniak and Jobs collaborated to establish Apple, it was Jobs who excelled at attracting customers for their business. Paul, t

heir colleague at Atari, expressed interest in purchasing one hundred computers from Apple at a cost of fifty thousand dollars - double their annual salary (Wasserman, 2008).

Jobs later introduced Wozniak to another partner, Ron Wayne. Wayne's role was to sit at the typewriter and write any agreements made by Jobs and Wozniak. This was part of Jobs' plan to have Wayne act as a witness in case there were disputes between him and Wozniak in the future regarding the decisions made for their new company. Wozniak likened Wayne's role to that of a lawyer when he wrote an agreement for Jobs and Wozniak.

Despite not contributing to the start of Apple Company, Jobs suggested an equal profit sharing arrangement. However, Wozniak's father disagreed with this proposal. Ultimately, both Wozniak and Wayne agreed to split the profits equally, with ten percent going to Wayn

for his later partnership. Wayne, aware of the unpredictable nature of Steve Jobs, contemplated either becoming impoverished or attaining world-class wealth.

This led him to sell the shares he received just two weeks after being hired, causing him to leave the company. Shortly after Wayne's departure, Jobs decided to search for a new partner. He reached out to nearly all the potential partners he believed would be interested in investing in companies. Despite Wozniak's opposition to having a third owner, Jobs persevered in his search. Eventually, Jobs found Markkula, who invested $91,000 and also offered a personal bank guarantee of $250,000.

Markkula's desire for equal ownership in Apple led to the establishment of new guidelines for the company. As a condition of this arrangement, Wozniak was encouraged to depart from HP and contribute his full-time efforts to Apple. Nevertheless, he opposed this suggestion due to his reluctance to exercise control over others or dictate their behavior.

Wozniak felt he wasn't fit for management and instead concentrated on computer design while at HP. He knew that working at Apple would be beyond his influence. Ultimately, Wozniak opted to commit himself to Apple completely. The executives at Apple then assigned job numbers to all employees, with Wozniak getting job number one and Jobs receiving job number two. This created tension between them as Jobs was envious and didn't want anyone having a higher job number than him.

The CEO stated that Wozniak would remain superior to everyone else, despite Jobs' desire to have job number zero. In addition, Jobs became a millionaire at the age of twenty-four by selling all of his accumulated shares in the late summer of 1999. Wozniak

later realized that Steve had not raised the salaries of their original employees, causing Fernandez to leave Apple after discovering that newer employees were receiving higher pay. The conflicts within the company led to the resignation of Scott, the chief executive, who had already informed Markkula that working at Apple was no longer enjoyable. Scott stepped down and Markkula took over as interim CEO.

Jobs seized his chance to return to the company and assumed a higher workload than Wozniak. Eventually, they hired John Sculley, an outsider who lacked knowledge about the company, to serve as the chief executive. However, John integrated smoothly into the company due to his managerial expertise and ability to connect with others. The aftermath of these events caused Wozniak to contemplate the impact on his bond with Jobs.

According to Wasserman (2008), Jobs was not truthful with his initial partner, causing significant harm.

Advice for Wozniak

To prevent conflict while working alongside Jobs, Wozniak should have remained at HP, utilizing his engineering talents to persist in calculator design.

In order to prevent tension and facilitate a focus on the growth of Apple Company and their marketing efforts, it is important for Wozniak to prioritize the needs of their workers. This will help avoid the loss of skilled employees. To achieve this, a board of management should be proposed that takes into account the needs and skills of every employee.
