The American civil war happened during early times of the Americans history .The war was very disastrous to the lives of many Americans. The war drifted between the northern and the South Americans who had developed along different lines. The North became more and more industrialized while the Southern regions were agrarian in nature. Therefore this paper is going to outline the effects, causes and the regions that were affected by the civil war in the American history.
First of all the civil war followed Abraham Lincoln’s election as the president of the America in 1860. The war came as a result of the conflict between the south and the northern region over slave trade and African Americans being used in farms as a sauce of labour by the southern region Americans (Holifield, 2005). The northern region was made up of the i
...ndustrialized oriented people and they wanted the southerners to abolish the slave trade hence this contributed to the drifts between the two regions.
Another cause of the civil war was the States’ Rights, which referred to the struggle between the federal government and the individual states over the political power (Foner, 2011). It is known that during this civil war era the struggle focused immensely on the issue of slavery and whether the federal Government had the right to reduce or permanently or do away with slavery in the country. All these discussions occurred between the northern and the southern state hence widening their relationships and creating divisions amongst them.
The Abolitionist movement, by the early 1830 was also the cause of the civil war in America. During this period, those who wished to see tha
the institutions of slavery were being abolished were becoming more and more aggressive (Holifield, 2005). They claimed obedience to the law above over obedience to constitution’s guarantee that a fugitive from one state would be considered a fugitive in all states. Hence all this created tension on how to remove slave trade across the nation.
The life of the American before the civil war was still divided between the two regions. Where the southern were agrarian in nature and used many African Americans in their plantations for Cotton farming (Foner, 2011). The African Americans were also sold to pay debts and subjected to hard conditions. The northerners on the other hand they were industrialized in nature where they controlled a number of manufacturing industries and they were against slave trade in the country by the southern American people.
During the Civil war the slaves, women, and immigrants and the confederate soldiers lost their lives in these war. In general it is estimated that over 600,000 Americans lost their lives and the war also threatened the balance of power in the western Hemisphere (Foner, 2011). The war led to North struggling and won in order to bring justice in the country. The North had to conquer many territories and break the will of the southern people.
The affected people had the worst experience during the civil war (Foner, 2011). Many were killed, others were deported and many were hungry and lacked good shelters hence lived in filthy conditions. The war brought a lot of sufferings to the general African Americans citizens.
In conclusion the civil war in the American history occurred due to widened differences between the North and the
South Americans people. The North had to fight in order to restore the justice system in the country that all human beings are equal under one God.
