When Gussy affably tells the truth in the courtroom, I realism that even though her lies were exaggerated, she only wanted to seek justice for those who had wronged her but in the end she did not need to lie to win her case. However Gary Is very defensive of his actions and wants to keep the case private, which makes you think Gussy is telling the truth about the harassment. As the play goes on Gary grows angrier and angrier with Gussy, stating that she is only in it for the money and that she initiated the sexual behavior.

The way Gary acts towards the case makes me question that even if someone has done the wrong thing does it really give you the right to take the aggressive path In proving your point. I personally the higher road. When Garry friend and co-worker states that he saw him and Gussy that night in the office, the way he spoke to her on the phone and the way he whispered in her ear as she sat at her desk. His friend also said that he had seen it happen with other women that had previously worked in the firm. This made my quickly come to the conclusion that Gary was definitely lying.

The way Gary lied and pressured Gussy and the mediator to keep the case from going to court made me question my belief that is it okay to

lie to save something that is important to you, in Agar's case his insurance firm. But then it also made me believe that Gary doesn't deserve to own the insurance firm if he is going to act irresponsibly as a boss. Throughout the playwright I had many mixed emotions about Gary whether he served to have Gussy sue him for more than he had but once the truth came out I believe that Gary deserved what he got.

Gussy sister, Kathy, tries to help her sister throughout the case by lying for her throughout private sessions. Although I believe that you should do anything to help your family, it makes me question whether it you should lie for your family knowing that they want to benefit from it.

Kathy is hesitant at first as she thinks it is unfair on Gary, as he would be cheated of $40,000 but once Gussy explains the story and how distraught she became because of the harassment Kathy thinks that is acceptable to ii.

I had to question my own beliefs that should you do anything to help your family, should you even be involved in your family member battles or should they fight there own. When Kathy reveals to Gussy that she was also sexually harassed by their father as child, it gives you the impression that Kathy is not only lying for her sister but to seek revenge for what her father did to her. I believe this is unfair to Gary, as even though he may have sexually harassed Gussy, he does not deserved to be punished for their father's mistake. In the end Kathy comes

clean to mediator as she feels she cannot lie o help her sister get the money.

This made me re-question my beliefs that should you do anything to help your family even if it does involve lying or does lying for your family say something it shouldn't. Brilliant Lies was an excellently written playwright that challenged the morals and beliefs of the audience. At the beginning, I thought that Gussy did not deserve the money from Gary because of my own beliefs but as the play went on these beliefs were questioned and I could forgive Gussy for the lies she told. However I could not forgive Gary because he lied for the wrong reasons, which goes against my principles.
