In life, one should be prepared to face the reality that comes through various circumstances that may occur. Whether good or bad, the events have a purpose to help people attain their objectives in life and future. Personally, I was faced with a reality that transformed my life in a way that I can always remember. The whole episode can never be erased in my memory as it completely changed my worldview from paganism to believing in God. This event was the death of my very only sister and one of my close friends, Ann.
It was on a very bright Saturday morning the day we had scheduled to attend a birthday party of another close friend James who was turning 18 years. We were prepared for this day and had purposed to enjoy every single
...minute that would pass by. Therefore, we were to drive for about two hours in order to reach my friend’s destination. Ann, my sister Rose and I shared the same personal car which we had borrowed from my parent in order to attend that colorful event. My sister was the one driving the car whose music we had set at blast. After driving for about an hour, we met a misfortune as we were trying to negotiate sharp bent of the main road. In the opposite direction came an over-speeding lorry. With the driver having no idea or chance to evade the forthcoming misfortune, we rammed into the Lorry and the rest is history. The next thing I could remember was when I woke up from the hospital bed and learnt of the death of my sister and our friend
Ann.
The death of my sister and friend drastically changed my life and perspective towards the world. My sister and friend Ann were only 19 years when they met their untimely deaths. Both of us had goals which we were yet to accomplish in life. The whole incident was painful for me and I kept on blaming God for it. It was hard for me to accept the reality. I spent days and night mourning and blaming God for allowing that to happen. I cried and got mad with God.
As time went by, through loneliness, I felt like God was speaking to my heart when I started believing in his existence. It was a change of heart. I started going to church a habit I had never considered before. I instead used to party with my friends the whole day and night without including the church into our normal programs. Within a period of eight months, I gave my life to God and I swore to serve Him then and for the rest of my life. I got involved in the church ministry through where I learnt how to preach the word of God before the congregation. Within a given period of time, I perfected my way of evangelizing and preaching the word of God. It is now 20 years of serving God whereby I am committed to His service in all ways under all circumstances. I consider the loss of my sister and my friend Ann as a turning point in my life in which my perspective towards the world has positively changed. I always view that God exists and He is the savior of
all life.
