American History X is a film that was released in 1998 and mainly talked about the racial conflicts between the whites and other minorities in the United States. During the early stages of the film, Derek and Danny are portrayed as racists since they hated the minorities that resided in the United States. For example, Derek goes to jail for three years after murdering two black men that had attempted to steal his vehicle at the beginning of the film (Kaye, American History X). Conversely, Danny portrays anti-Semitism when he writes an essay that is hostile to the Jewish community. This scene unfolded after Mr. Murray asked Danny to write an essay on the human rights. However, knowing that Murray was Jewish, Danny went ahead to write an essay in praise of Adolf Hitler (Kaye, American History X).

In the film, Derek also brings out the racist aspect in him when he assembles a group of youths and makes them attack a grocery store that is owned by Koreans. While delivering his speech to the teenagers, Derek claims that the vast number of minorities in the nation would soon result in whites losing their jobs to them. With Derek’s orders, the youths charge at the Korean grocery store beating the employees, most of who are of Hispanic origin (Kaye, American History X). Dehumanizing metaphors also surface when Derek attacks Mr. Murray, the Jewish teacher. After realizing that Mr. Murray was dating his mother, Derek claims that he will not sit back and let him come in and poison his family’s dinner (Kaye, American History X).
