The 1812 war was led by the fact that the American people were aggrieved because of the trade restrictions by the Britons. It was in addition to the need for America to expand its territory through taking over Canada. It is the war that led the Americans to have a sense of pride. It also led to the faith in the American leaders that America had the ability to expand (Eustace, 2012 Pg. 50).

After the 1812 war, the American leaders sought to expand in the west a period referred to as the westward expansion between the years 1803 and 1853. The Louisiana land was then bought by America for up to $15 million in an effort for America to expand their territories. Texas was acquired by America through annexing in the year 1845 (McManus, 2010 Pg. 125). It was followed by the Mexican-American war in 1847 that saw America acquiring up to half million square feet of land (McManus, 2010 Pg. 138). Fundamentally, these events were directed towards America expanding their territories.

It is evident from the study that after the American independence, America was able to get back on its feet after the economic crisis quickly. It was achieved by implementing policies that looked at growing the country quickly. It is evidenced by the adoption of industrialization and therefore creating a more efficient system. The 1812 war opened doors for America to believe in its capabilities in the expansion. It led them to expand to Texas, Mexico and also purchasing Louisiana (Eustace, 2012 Pg. 233). Clearly, the policies adopted after the revolution between 1787 to

1849 saw America become stronger that it was before independence.
