For instance, legal secretaries prepare correspondence and legal papers such as summonses, complaints, motions, responses, and subpoenas under the supervision of an attorney or a paralegal. They also may review legal Journals and assist with legal research. Additionally, legal secretaries often teach new lawyers how to prepare legal documents for submission to the courts. Medical secretaries transcribe dictation, prepare correspondence, and assist physicians or medical scientists with reports, speeches, articles, and conference proceedings. They also record simple medical histories, arrange for patients to be hospitalized, and order supplies.
Most medical secretaries need to be familiar with insurance rules, billing practices, and hospital or laboratory procedures. 3. What technical skills do administrative assistants need? With the rise in technology administrative assistants need to possess
technical skills. Good knowledge on handling office equipment and their specific functions, such as, understanding how to use the copiers, printers, fax machines, telephones, scanners, coffee machines, and computers. Also, administrative professionals are expected to be proficient with office programs, such as, Microsoft Office.
In addition, this profession requires knowledge on the internet, and may possibly require learning new software used by the company. 4. Why are interpersonal and communication skills especially important for money in an administrative assistant role? Interpersonal skills and communication skills are especially important for an administrative professional because they are the skills and attitudes that enable employees to get along with their colleagues, to make critical decisions, solve problems, develop respect and ultimately become strong representative for the organization.
The efficiency of any organization depends, in part, upon the administrative professionals who are at the center of communications. 5. List several types of nonprofit organizations. Brainstorm some typical tasks an administrative assistant might do in each setting. There are many different nonprofit organizations, including Red Cross, Goodwill, SST. Suede's Children's Research Hospital Habitat for Humanity. As an employee of a nonprofit organization you work to earn the business. Because nonprofits are funded through grants, donors, and charities.
It is imperative that the administrative assistant knows and understands the organization's mission and goals. Employers are responsible for ensuring all their employees receive the tools, equipment, and supplies needed to achieve the duties assigned to them. SUBJECT: Playground project As you know, are offices are closed each year in observance of Martin Luther King, Jar. Day. This year, the company is organizing a service project for that
day. We will be cleaning up the Grove Street Playground and we will be planting bushes, flubs, and flowers. The company is donating new playground equipment and park benches. Cleanup gear and tools will be provided, and a cook out will conclude the days' activities. Further information will be provided as the date draws nearer.
