By reading the science fiction works of Jules Verne and H., the idea of space exploration sparked inspiration within.
During his lifetime, von Braun became the most significant rocket designer because of his intense fascination with space flight, prompting G. Wells to take notice. While serving in the German army during World War II, he developed missiles that eventually led to the creation of the V-2 rocket. This rocket was fueled by liquid and became capable of targeting European locations for bombing.
The V-2 rocket's structure served as the foundation of rockets utilized in space exploration efforts by both the US and the USSR post-WWII. While working with the US army in ballistic missile development, Wernher Von Braun played a significant role. In 1960, his rocket development center transitioned from the army to the newly established NASA, tasked with constructing
...the enormous Saturn rockets responsible for transporting individuals to the moon. Born on March 23rd, 1912, in Wirsitz, Germany, Von Braun's father was a member of the Weimar Republic Cabinet and founder of the German Savings Bank, as well as minister of agriculture. Language came easy to Von Braun during his studies, though he struggled with physics and mathematics.
After becoming captivated by astronomy at Hermann Lletz School, he pursued his passion by enrolling in Berlin institutes of technology and ultimately earning a doctorate in physics in 1934. During World War II, he joined Wernher von Braun's 'rocket team' and worked collaboratively on numerous projects that contributed to the development of the German ballistic missile, including the V-1 and V-2 guided missiles which were ultimately used against Allied forces.
The rocket team shifted their focus to rocket developmen
after surrendering to the US Army in 1945 and relocating to Fort Bliss.
