During the summer season, my family and I had a great time participating in various outdoor activities like biking, playing baseball, gardening, and spending weekends at the lake where we enjoyed swimming, boating, and water skiing.

Our typical camping location was next to the water, necessitating a hike or walk up the hill for bathroom use. This routine provided ample exercise, as we repeated it approximately 10 times daily. In contrast, today's youth spend excessive amounts of time engaged in activities such as TV-watching, video game playing, and utilizing costly cell phones.

Decreasing physical activity frequently leads to heightened food intake, which can lead to weight gain and various health issues. In my seventh and eighth years of school, Junior High was conveniently located uphill from the elementary school. Additionally, I attended daily Physical Education classes that lasted for a full hour, encompassing track meet events with multiple schools. This class held special meaning for me, and I enthusiastically embraced all the challenges it presented.

I was highly competitive and took pleasure in displaying my superiority to both my peers and teachers. Additionally, my coach served as the boys' coach as well. He would exempt me from study hall so that I could compete against the boys. This left the boys feeling disgruntled with the coach, as even they were unable to surpass my running abilities. The coach would taunt the boys, asking if they were going to allow a girl to outperform them. I understand that Coach Brown employed this tactic with the boys' team to ignite their motivation and

foster concentration.

Nearby, the High School buildings housed grades 9th to 12th. I excelled in my passion for sports, which included basketball, volleyball, and baseball. Although we played these sports during PE time at our school, we did not compete against other schools.

One year after graduation, our school started competing in these sports for the girls. As for the boys' teams, they played football, basketball, and baseball, competing against other schools for trophies to add to the school's showcase. I graduated in 1975 and shortly after, I chose to marry my high school sweetheart.
