Most health care organizations have embraced the continuous quality improvement (CQI) program that involves the definition of quality in clinical operations as well as service processes. Nurse leaders can achieve this by for instance challenging care providers to assume certain tasks through encouraging teamwork and acknowledgment of individual input. Nurse leaders can also embrace re-engineering in empowering patients such that they can contribute to the decision-making process.
