What people fail to know is that although the oceans are very vast and large the small continuous pollution is a growing harmful course to the oceans and the ocean's living creatures. Many argue that the ocean water will dilute the chemicals released to our oceans but this argument is not accurate. The oceans cover almost a 75% of the total earth mass. Most of the foods we consume come from these oceans like fish, plants, and other different kinds of animals. With the continued pollution our food may seem to disappear (Ostadhi).
Generally the air we breathe in, the products we use on a day-to-day basis, as well as t water we drink somehow, would not be possible without the ocean, everything we use in this world, depends from the ocean. That is why the issue of ocean pollutions is a ve
...ry significant matter that is supposed to be addressed immediately. We humans depend upon the ocean on a lot of things, scientist say that without the ocean we would probably be extinct.
We tend to assume that by polluting the ocean no major effect will happen because of the vast and large size of the ocean, but that is not the case, ocean have for a long time been polluted since the roman ages, and it’s now clear and evident how the ocean pollution is becoming a disaster (Hasselberger). They are a lot of ways where the ocean can be polluted, through herbicides, the oil pollution one of the major pollutants; some countries deposit their sewage waste into the ocean, plastic waste and other types of solid, chemically processed fertilizers, chemicals deposits and some cases pesticides
This waste end up being deposited at the very depth of the oceans and will be consumed by the living creatures living it the oceans, ending up dying, introducing another form of pollution (Hasselberger).
Stated that the oceans are what connect most of our countries in the planet earth. But something sad is that our oceans are reducing in size as well as going extinct something that is caused by the human population. All these pollution from the vehicles and the industries are released into the atmosphere and through time they get enthralled by these oceans, this in turns affects our living breathing ocean life.
This kind of pollution is known as ocean acidification. This acidification have caused the reduction of the ocean's PH, as a result of the huge absorption of carbon dioxide and other poisonous gases from the atmosphere, the swift escalations of these gases in to or oceans as a result of the large intake of the fossils fuels we humans release into the atmosphere. The carbon IV oxide that is dissolved into the oceans, turn to turn our oceans into carbonic acid (Rinkesh).
Though the small amounts of these carbonic acids are not harmful, but as the level continues to grow, the carbonic acid will turn poisonous to all living things that depend on the oceans as means of survival. The acidity levels in our oceans have grown with a percentage increase of about 30%. Every other day diverse forms of impurities find their way into the oceans. A lot of very toxic materials are deposited into these oceans and seas, increasing the level of the poisonous proportions.
These toxic materials highly contaminate the waters
endangering lives of the marine animals and in some cases resulting o the death of a lot of these animals. Everyone has taken part either directly or indirectly in the huge pollution of the ocean waters (US Department of Commerce).
According to (Kashi) the industries are the major contributes to the pollution; they use a lot of these waters to produce a lot of their products. The factories upon completion with these waters the waste products are deposited back into the oceans, these wastewaters contains a lot of chemicals and other harmful substances harmful to the water creatures. When these waters are deposited in the oceans for a long time they will pose a danger to the marine animals, the waters and chemicals will contaminate a lot of food supplies endangering those people who depend and use the ocean waters, these people use the water either for fishing, swimming and even drinking purposes.
Some of these power plants tend to deposit water into our oceans. They use this water to cool their large reactors. This water will later be deposited back onto the oceans at a very high temperature, this high-temperature water disrupts the marine environment (Gall and Thompson 176).
The greatest pollutant of the oceans of all time is oil; oil Is one of the deadliest toxic radioactive materials that enter the oceans. The pollution caused by oil poses a lot of danger and results to a lot of damage to marine life. The marine animals consume these oil and results to the death of millions of these creatures. The water get contaminated that it becomes impossible to be used for drinking. Every other that passes by,
gallons and gallons and gallons of oil are deposited into the oceans be it though leakage, spilling, intentional spilling, accidents and the fatal accidents ("What Is The Biggest Source Of Pollution In The Ocean?"). In recent times people residing by the ocean lines have suffered from either cholera, typhoid and other diseases related to contaminated waters (Islam and Tanaka 627).
Stated that these is as a result of the high bacteria levels that contaminate the waters, This contamination comes as a result of the huge dumping of sewage, medical waste and even animal waste into the oceans. The toxicity level of these oceans increases the chances of cancer occurrence to many humans. Protection of these oceans should be a matter taken into consideration. The idea that the large size of oceans could not be affected by the large pollutions have proved otherwise. Actions should be laid to prevent the high pollution, to protect our future generations and also the marine life. By having clean oceans we will have a clean and safe environment (Anon).
