Homeless adults undergo massive stressors on a daily basis as they steer a problem of mental, physical, and environmental risks. Depending on how they respond and adapt to these stressors can potentially affect their health outcomes and their quality of life. Additionally, places children at risk for mental health problems. Maternal depression may impact child outcomes by its effects on the mother-child correlation (Ferguson et al., 2015). The two selected articles are “Homelessness and Resilience” and “Risk and Resilience in Homeless Children. From both the two articles, the risk and vulnerability factors that are most significant in determining service outcomes in both adults and children are highlighted. Some of these risk factors in children include poverty, traumatic experiences, hunger, health problems, foster care, and school mobility.

A specific risk factor may augment the likelihood of a child dwindling to meet academic standards evolving mental health or failing to make friendships with others. The risk and vulnerability factors in adults include education whereby almost fifty-three percent of the parents in homeless families have lower than a high school education. Other risk factors include single parenthood, adulthood trauma, mental health problems, and difficult childhoods (Masten et al., 2015). The blend of these risk factors makes it incredibly challenging to parents.

Resilience factors in homelessness are referred to as the adaptive systems in the child, community, as well as the family that operates to assist children in achieving suitable growth regardless of risk and hardship. include good intellectual skills, faith or religious affiliation, and access to caring as well as proficient adults (Ferguson et al., 2015). The various environmental or background issues surrounding their homelessness are not the same, and their impact on each aspect separately and differently.

Some of the implications for the future program design or policy initiatives should involve programs that offer children a safe chance as well as a stimulating environment with supportive tutors who will provide consistent routines for some of the homeless children are not used to such kind of environment (Masten et al., 2015). Moreover, policies and techniques for giving all at-risk children the opportunity to contribute to programming that can immensely improve their willingness for kindergarten should be evaluated.
