Assessing the Effectiveness of Homeless Services Essay Example
The concept of resilience helps understand the complexity of homelessness. Homeless people experience an array of challenges that result in situational complications and ultimately limit their success. Problems cause or trigger psychiatric complications to such an extent that health issues such as depression might arise.
Many youths become homeless in their quest for short-lived happiness. Young individuals who run away from home because of personal or family issues often fail to cover their daily costs and live on the streets due to lack of options. As such, life experiences change from traumatic to resiliency when a person begins to accept reality and internalize the possibilities. Within such defining factors, resilience would be the capability to remain hopeful. According to Williams, Lindsey, Kurtz, and Jarvis (2001), refusing to internalize and identify with economic failures is an ultimate revelation of resilience.

...arying issues within different subpopulations. As such, the notion of resiliency is depicted differently depending on the environment and the particular subpopulation involved. Some sub-populations are more resilience as compared to others. According to Weinreb (1996), self-sufficiency requires more than housing. People need to learn how to be resilient and to identify productive ways to instigate progress and improve the chances of avoiding homelessness in future times.
In conclusion, self-sufficiency concerns the establishment of sustainable processes. In the case of homelessness, homeless service is not sustainable as an independent project but very useful when evaluated as a stepping stone from where further progress can be founded. Self-sufficient is supported through elements such as continuum of care. According to Geis (2015), the continuum of care refers to continued monitoring and evaluation of progress to ensure that reformed Homeless
people do not return to the state of homelessness.
