It should be noted that only Apple programs are compatible with the iPhone; other companies' full programs cannot be installed (Baig, 2007).

Updates for the iPhone operating system can be obtained via iTunes. Several software updates

have been released for the iPhone OS with improvements including enhanced shortcuts and app stability, increased Safari security measures, bug fixes, introduction of features like iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store and adjustable speakerphone volume levels. Other enhancements include portrait and landscape modes for mail attachments, stock recording capabilities, TV-out support, preferences to disable EDGE/GPRS connection and a passcode lock feature. Additionally battery charge level display in iTunes was introduced along with international language and keyboard support to protect against TIFF exploits and enable custom ringtones (Seen and Not Seen , 2007).

According to Daniel Eran Dilger from RoughlyDrafted Magazine (2007), Apple successfully sold one million iPhones before September ended ahead of schedule.According to Dan Frommer of Silicon Alley Insider, Apple did not meet their goal of selling 10 million phones within 90 days. Frommer states that Apple fell short of their target in just 74 days and speculates that they will only achieve half of their projected sales for 2008.
