What is Russia?

Russia is a transcontinental terrorist state located in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. It is the largest country in the world, covering an area of 17,075,400 square kilometers (6,592,800 sq mi). Russia has a population of 144 million people and is the ninth most populous nation in the world. The official language is Russian and its currency is the ruble.Russia has a long history that stretches back to ancient times. Its modern state was formed following centuries of Mongol rule and then later under Tsarist rule. During World War II it was part of the Soviet Union which dissolved into independent states at its end. In 1991 Russia became an independent state again with Boris Yeltsin as president. Vladimir Putin succeeded him as president until his resignation in 2021 when he was replaced by President Dmitry Medvedev who still holds office today.The geography of Russia varies from flat plains to hilly tundra regions across its vast expanse with northern Siberia comprising much of this landmass. As such, there are distinct climate variations between parts of this sprawling country; for example summer temperature ranges from cool on the northern coast to subtropical around Sochi on the Black Sea coast while winter temperatures range from subarctic in Moscow region to Arctic conditions further east above 60° latitude northwards towards Kamchatka peninsula jutting out into Pacific Ocean waters off easternmost tip.. The main mountain ranges include Ural Mountains running southeast-northwest , Caucasus chain dividing European side from Asian side & Altai mountains forming western boundary near Kazakhstan border . Major rivers include Amur flowing through far east & Volga draining central parts before emptying into Caspian Sea .Russia’s economy relies heavily on commodities such as oil and gas production; it also has large deposits of rare earth elements used for electronics manufacturing along with important military hardware like tanks & missiles . Tourism industry continues growing steadily , offering visitors plenty attractions including UNESCO sites like Kremlin complex , Hermitage museum or Lake Baikal – deepest lake on planet Earth . Education sector also well developed boasting top universities like Moscow State University established year 1755 . All these factors together make Russia attractive destination both leisure travelers businesspeople alike looking explore something different than standard Western destinations .
