What is Positive Self Regard?
Positive Self Regard is the practice of treating oneself with respect and self-love. It is the belief that you are worthy of love, compassion and acceptance, regardless of your flaws or mistakes. Practicing positive affirmations can also help to boost self-esteem and remind yourself that you are capable, strong and deserving of love. Taking moments throughout the day to step back from stressful situations to take some deep breaths can also help rewire our brains for more positive thoughts about ourselves. It is important to remember that everyone has different needs when it comes to practicing Positive Self Regard; what works for one person may not work for another. Some people find journaling helpful while others prefer talking things out with a friend or therapist; whatever methods work best for you should be utilized in order to foster a healthy relationship with yourself.
