What is Nuclear Chemistry?

Nuclear Chemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with the study of changes in the nucleus, including radioactive decay and nuclear reactions. Finally, radioactive decay involves studying how unstable atoms break down over time to become more stable elements this process releases radiation which can be harnessed for applications such as generating electricity in power plants or used in medical imaging devices like CT scans and PET scans. By better understanding these concepts, scientists have been able to manipulate them for practical purposes such as creating isotopes which are useful in treating certain types of cancer or controlling radioactivity levels at nuclear facilities where hazardous materials may be present. Moreover, research has also enabled us to use various forms of radiation for other beneficial applications including food irradiation (which helps extend shelf life) and sterilization procedures used by hospitals worldwide. Overall, Nuclear Chemistry is an incredibly important field that continues to play a crucial role in our lives today not only does it provide us with insights into fundamental aspects of matter but also allows us to make use of these discoveries for benefit humankind across many different sectors.
