What is Middle East?
The Middle East is a region in Southwest Asia and Northeast Africa. It is called the crossroads of the world due to its strategic location, as it encompasses some of the most important trade routes in the world. The region has been at the center of international politics and diplomacy for centuries, and continues to be a major player on the global stage today. The countries in this region have long histories going back thousands of years, with empires such as Egypt, Persia, and Babylon ruling over much of what are now modern-day Middle Eastern states. This also means that these countries are home to many different ethnic groups and religions, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism and several others. As such, there is often conflict between different factions within these countries due to religious or cultural differences. In addition to this religious diversity in many Middle Eastern countries comes an array of languages spoken throughout the region as well as a variety of customs and traditions that differ from country to country. The economy in much of this area is highly dependent on oil production and exports however, there are other industries such as agriculture that play an important role within certain economies here too. Education has seen recent improvements throughout some parts of the Middle East though still lags behind other regions when it comes to access for all citizens across all levels (primary school through higher education). In terms of healthcare access remains an issue for many citizens living in this region but progress has been made over time due to increased government investments in healthcare infrastructure across certain areas. In general, instability remains a key challenge facing much of this region today from political unrest in nations such as Iraq or Syria and terrorist activities by extremist groups like ISIS who seek only chaos and destruction for those living here. Though there have been successes by regional governments at times too such as peace agreements between Israel & Palestine overall tensions remain high between different nations which can lead to further conflicts or disputes if not managed properly by diplomatic channels or international organizations like the United Nations (UN).
