What is Construction?
The construction of the Great Wall is one of the most remarkable feats in human history. The wall was built over a period of centuries, beginning as early as 7th century BC and continuing through to 1644 AD when it was completed by the Ming Dynasty. It stretches more than 13,000 miles from east to west across China, making it one of the longest structures ever constructed. The main purpose for building the wall was to protect China’s northern borders from invading nomadic tribes such as Mongols and Manchus. Throughout its long history, various emperors and dynasties added sections or improved upon existing sections in order to strengthen or upgrade its defense capabilities. Construction techniques varied depending on time period and region but generally included rammed earth walls with various materials used for reinforcement such as stones, bricks, wood and tiles. In some cases additional features were added such as watchtowers placed at strategic intervals along its length which allowed sentries to monitor any potential threats coming from beyond the walls.Despite its impressive physical strength and size, much of what made the Great Wall so effective was psychological the sight of an impassable barrier could be enough to deter invaders before they even attempted an assault on Chinese territory. Today many consider it not just an engineering marvel but also a symbol of national pride for all Chinese people who have strived throughout their nation’s history against foreign invasions that threatened their very way of life .
