At Solutions Unlimited, the HRS Department reported to Mr. Algal, the Director of Operations. The Department had non-employee staff at Grade 00 Level 2, including Mean who lacked formal education in HRS management and Vent who had only six months of experience after an MBA at Jensen and Nicholson, a paint manufacturer. This meant that both staff were new to the IT industry and its HRS policies. Nits was recruited while the department was in such a state. The problem that arises from this is how Nits can reconcile with Mean so that the HRS Department works in the best interest of both Nits and the firm. Detailed analysis of the problem suggests that Mean's dislike towards Nit's actions stems from incidents that occurred during their first meeting, particularly when Nit commented on his salary offer. ed that Mean reacted formally and business-like upon hearing this comment, which led to her portraying Nits as a 'troublemaker' to Mr. Algal.

It is possible that Mean may have misunderstood Nitwit's statement as being arrogant and condescending. Mr. Algal later on. Another incident that could have caused displeasure between the two is when Nitwit did not attend the Orientation Program conducted in Amsterdam the Monday after he joined the company. However, Nitwit's mentor, Mr. Curran, intervened and insisted that he attend it later and that he needn't stay in Delhi for two days to complete visa formalities as Mean had suggested. In summary, Mean's decisions regarding Nits were once again overruled by a superior. Mean may have felt threatened by Nits' close working relationship with the Managing Director, Mr. Mannish Calla, as well as Nits' ability to persuade others, such as Mr. Kapok and Mr. Curran, to act in his favor. It is also worth noting that Nits was referred to the company by individuals who hold high positions within the organization, Arriving and Vida. Arriving had previously interfered with Mean's dealings with Nits by recommending a revised job offer to Mr. Kapok. This appears to have irked Mean, as evidenced by Mr. Luau's reprimand of Nitwit's perceived entitlement due to his connections within the company. Ultimately, the referral system at Solutions Unlimited may pose a threat to the already fragile interpersonal relationships between Mean and Nits.
