The fight towards racial discrimination and inequality is one of the most straggle that has happened in the history of the United States of America. Despite the multiple straggle of the black community to achieve the equality, there has been very little change in the situation. This can be seen in some major sectors like education. It is a fact that America spend much money on education than any other OECD countries ("Does Integration Still Matter In Public Schools?", 2016).In fact the percentage spent is 39 more for every full time student in the in the both secondary and elementary education than any other country that belong to the OECD. This discussion will therefore focus on three important issues that include, the reasons for the inequality in integrated American schools, compare the situation as it is among the white and black races
..., and the possible solutions to the rising racial inequality.
According to the research conducted by the National Center of Education Statistics, there is a revelation that despite the fact of the massive resources spent in the sector, there is a very negative outcome that affects education, especially by the fat of the existence of massive racial discrimination. The segregation of the white students and the colored students brings a negative impression on the influence of education (Fiel and Jeremy, 2013). This is indicated by the fact that there is inequality and separation of the schools in the country based on the racial classes.
The video reveals the uncomfortable reality that exist in the community schools. In most cases, these schools are both racially and economically segregated and the parents who control them are the middle
class and the rich ones. The unbalance is in the sense that in most of these neighboring schools, the middle class and the rich are always whites. Therefore their schools tend to perform better than those of the poor and colored students. In this case, when the government tries to promote these performing schools. It is a move to promote racial inequality in the education sector.
Around 90 percent of black schools are made of minor students. This is based on the fact there is a massive poverty among the parents, hence the community is not able to provide quality to the students. In addition to poor infrastructural facilities, these schools also contain lower-paid teachers who are not well experienced as well. On the other hand, schools who are run by the middle class and the rich parents tend to have better facilities, better teachers and better quality of education with very minimal cases of school dropouts. These schools tend to be expensive and white race dominates. In this case, a clear indication of racial separation is seen, in terms of economic capability.
There is also an existence of different schools based on different neighborhoods. In this contacts. In the black community which are dominated by poor and the low class individuals.
The standard of schools built in such laces tend to be of low quality than those in the whit communities. Black students always face a problem of food insecurity, low income and less likely to have parents with jobs. This therefore affect their ability to concentrate in schools. On the other hand, the white students enjoy better parenthoods and hence are able to perform better. This
therefore shows the extent of segregation between the whites and the blacks in the education sector.
Black students also undergoes serious emotional problems as they go through their secondary education, with many black girls being victims of rape, while boys being victims of violence. There is also a problem of domestic violence, and in most cases, negligence from the parents or deaths. These problems make the black students have mental tortures and hence psychological unsettlement. With this type of environment the black students always find themselves dropping out of school. On the other hand, the families from other races have a well-organized form of life that make their children have a conducive environment for education. This make them have humble time to concentrate on their education and proceed to the college. Their probability to proceed is much higher as compared to those of the black students.
It is therefore clear that for the government and the entire community to address the issue of separation and inequality in education, there are several factors that have to be addressed. One of the key factor is the economic balance. I this context, the black communities should be given opportunity to get employment and get a stable way of living (Benner etal, 2014).With the good economic balance, a sense of equality will emanate and hence the issue of racial segregation will no longer be a problem. This can also be achieved by enacting support services for the poor students to enable them go through education in a peaceful way.
The government should also take keen interest in racial integration in both elementary and secondary schools. In this case, there will be an
opportunity for all races to experience same educational facilities, and hence bring a balance in the society. This can only be achieved if the government insist on the policy that brings balance in such schools to incorporate individuals from different races.
In conclusion, the issue of racial segregation and unbalance is still a big problem in the United States of America. Therefore because the government is willing to spend more in I education, it is important for it to set educational policies that do not disadvantage a particular race.
