I shall offer four arguments to back up this thesis. First, the involvement with certain groups on a college campus includes the viewing of pornography. Second, these different groups/organizations' permissive attitude toward sex leads to pornographic viewing.

Third, these different organizations partake in group activities, which promote group norms that include the viewing of pornography. Fourth, students to partake in these activities at a high rate to form friendship and have a sense of belonging that these different organizations offer.

In the sections that follow I will expand on these arguments, and offer conclusions by revisiting the question and the thesis that pornographic viewing is a function of social organization and not that of social serialization. ARGUMENTS In this section, I shall offer four arguments that I have described above to support my thesis.

Each argument shows how organizations, their traditions, expectations, and group settings lead students to certain behaviors, of which the viewing of pornography is a crucial issue.

In the following I shall specifically focus on how the viewing of pornography is encouraged in the social environment that organizations on a college campus inspire. 1 . Colonization and Pornographic Viewing Alcohol is one of the main components of social activities in social organizations on college campuses. Sexual activity is also a primary component, which in turn leads to the viewing of pornography.

Social organizations, such as, fraternities and sororities will hold special events and it is a rare occasion to have no alcohol or sexual

activity present in some fashion at an event.

Many organizations feel that partaking in sexual activity and viewing pornography brings you closer together as a community. For this reason, many incoming students partake in these organizations' social events. Students are always longing for a place they can belong and being active in sexual activity and viewing pornography is a way for them to achieve their sense Of belonging. The effects Of sexual activity and viewing Of pornography allows individuals to be freer and outgoing, so they become more social.

Many students feel they also need to conform to their peers.

Sexual activity and viewing pornography is seen as "cool" to many folks, but to men especially. Being sexual active and viewing pornography has become so common that many see it as a typical activity and perceive it to be fun, low- risk behavior. Another reason that organizations such as fraternities and sororities have a gig rate of viewing pornography is the past experience of its members.

Many of them have been viewing pornography long before they start college. They enter these organizations with their past habits and behaviors.

And the organizations fuel them with norms of their own. Such past habits and behaviors are one of the main reasons why people choose to join a fraternity or sorority. They like being surrounded by those who feel the same way they do about viewing pornography and sexual activity. Besides, students choose to partake in the viewing of pornography because it alps them overcome their sense of loneliness, depression, and stress.

College can be very challenging to students, and they believe sexual activity and viewing pornography relieves

a lot of the pressure they are under. . Group Consumption and the Viewing of Pornography As it was established in the previous argument, people choose to partake in the viewing of pornography because it enhances colonization. When there are a lot of people present at an event, the opportunity to socialize and meet new people is elevated. Believe it or not, the viewing of pornography can be seed as a social activity, and it is more common to partake in sexual activity and the viewing of porn when surrounded by other people because Of peer pressure.

Also, going to parties hosted by fraternities and sororities allows underage people to get involved and no one will be denying them access to watching porn or being sexually active, especially when alcohol is involved.

There are always people present who have a similar drive to watch pornography as entertainment and since sex is such a huge part of Greek life on college campuses, the viewing of pornography is always available to anyone who chooses to participate. According to the cultural transmission school of thought, individuals learn errant behavior by interacting with others.

People have a greater chance of participating in destructive behavior if they are members of a group that stresses that behavior. By joining a social organization, such as a fraternity or sorority, members refer to each other as "brothers" or "sisters," and they are all expected to follow certain norms and participate in events hosted by their organization.

If one person is partaking in the viewing of pornography, others will want to join in or feel obligated to join in. Organizations' Traditions and Viewing Pornography

Viewing pornography is extremely common and some Greek organizations utilize different events that involve the viewing of pornography as traditions. People whom first join an organization, especially Greek society, they are called pledges. Certain rules are enforced on them in order to be invited into the organization. Drinking is many times a part of the initiation process, but there are many occasions where sexual intercourse or the viewing of pornography is required. Eave heard of a party titled "Porn & Chicken. People sit around drinking, eating chicken, and watching porn- It has been going on for many, many years. The attitudes that students form towards viewing pornography and socializing have a big affect on their behaviors. As differential association is a theory of deviance states, violations of norms results from exposure to attitudes favorable to deviant acts, students learn advanced techniques of sexual activity, such as viewing pornography, in Greek organizations. Many become favorably disposed to the negative effects that viewing pornography as on them and continue to do so frequently, no matter how dangerous it may be.

They also begin to believe that acting this way sexually will present them with good friends and popularity. Students tend to engage in activities depending on the rewards they will receive in return. 4. Many Social Organizations Center around Risky Behavior Sexual activity and excessive drinking tend to come to mind when college organizations, such as fraternities and sororities are brought up. Many people often associate socializing in organizations with alcohol and sexual activity, ND this could be a reason why the viewing of pornography has

become such a major issue organizations, but Greek organizations especially.

When something is labeled a certain way, we feel a pressure to act in that particular manner. Due to the current state of Greek organizations, it is hard not to think of them as places where risky behavior happens, like the frequent viewing Of pornography. Students have come to expect that, so they attend these social gatherings with every intention of having a few drinks and possibly partaking in these risky behaviors like the viewing of pornography. When people are removed from a social setting, these risky behaviors are much less likely.

Students who aren't involved with these different social organizations on a college campus do not feel the need nor the pressure to the extent of members involved with these different social organizations. CONCLUSION The above discussion of the viewing of pornography sufficiently supports my thesis that pornographic viewing is not the result of social digitization. It is instead an outcome of social organization of which social organizations, like fraternities and sororities are the main component.

In support of this thesis, have argued that the viewing of pornography is most commonly associated with students involved with social organizations on college campuses. I then explained why students belonging to these different social organizations engage in viewing pornography, and argued that students' organizational life encourages this behavior.

I have expanded on this argument with relevant examples of social organizations as social hubs for students and how they encourage the viewing of pornography and other risky behaviors.
