In this exercise you have to choose the correct form of the possessive adjective.

In French, unlike English, there’s a double logic with possessive adjectives. First you have to choose the appropriate adjective according to the owner but then the chosen adjective must agree with the gender of the thing owned and not the owner.

In this case the subject “the owner” is **je**. That is why the adjectives in the brackets are already given according to the possessor “je”, 1st person singular : **ma**, feminine singular; **mon**, masculine singular, and **mes**, plural both genders.

What you have to do now is choose the form of the adjective that agrees in number and in gender with **mère**, feminine singular. So we’ll underline the adjective **ma** that corresponds to the feminine singular nouns.

You also have **père**, masculine singular noun. You’ll therefore choose the adjective **mon** that agrees with masculine singular nouns.

In this case you have the owner 1st person singular, “je” and you have the “thing owned” **frères**, masculine plural. That’s why you will underline the adjective **mes** that agrees with the plural nouns.

You also have “soeur”, feminine singular, so the second adjective will be **ma**, ma soeur.

Ce sont mes frères et ma soeur…

The owner is Camille who introduces her grandparents to her friend. The owner is therefore “je” and the object, the possession are her grandparents, masculine plural noun. We’ll underline the adjective **mes** that agrees with the masculine plural nouns.

In this case the object are Camille’s cousins, Bertille et Laure. We’ll choose the adjective **mes** that agrees with both feminine and masculine plural nouns.
